I don't want to overhype them, but the TMJ massage sessions I've had at Luminous You Massage have been a game changer.
I've dealt with periodic episodes of trigeminal neuralgia (TN) for more than two decades, and I'm so glad I found this massage therapy; it really does help.
For me, I generally have a consistent baseline of a small amount of a burning sensation on the left side of my head; there are days I feel it start to intensify and move into more of a electric shock pulse.
Periodically, it develops into what I think of as a full-blown episode, and it's debilitating. It is the worst pain I've ever experienced and for lack of a better term, it's all-consuming. I can't think straight, I can't have a conversation; I'm just breathing through it and waiting it out. If you've been down this road, you can relate, and I'm sorry if you can.
I want to point out here too, that I had never even considered trying TMJ massage. During my first appointment with Rebekkah, she talked with me about why I was there and what I was trying to address, and listening to everything, she suggested the TMJ massage.
After my first session with her, I felt a kind of lightness. It's hard to describe, but it just didn't hurt anymore (for a period), and it was amazing.
I will be following Rebekkah's advice and will have a few more sessions to hopefully get back to a normal baseline of little to no pain and then from there, have maintenance TMJ sessions on a monthly basis.
Like any self-care any of us do, I just have to make time for it, but I'm happy to report back here on how it works for me, personally, if anyone is looking at options to manage something similar. Many, many, many thanks to Rebekkah and her crew! <3
