Straight Line was extremely helpful in listening to our thoughts and ideas and gave us a few great design options to consider. Once we determined which direction we were going in, the SLDR team executed the structural designs needed and dealt directly with the Portland building department. Once our demo and 12-week construction began, our general contractor/project manager was very hands on and in constant communication with us. Not only that, but SLDR listened to what our budget was, and stayed within it! Our family is extremely happy with how the remodel turned out, and we are looking forward to using our remodeled fireplace with a wood burning insert this winter. “I needed a big remodel project when we moved into our house 3 years ago.
I was having a hard time finding a contractor to help with the remodel. He was referred by another friend and I couldn’t have been luckier.

Bruce a General Contractor, is very experienced in all trades and is well networked and connected with many of them.

On his first visit to our project, he discovered some issues at a corner of the house, including a 2” + sag at one big corner of the house. He was able to do some structural repairs to level the area. This could have been way worse had I proceeded with other work without this repair.

Bruce did all my structural framing and other work including fixing other missed repairs, demo work, shored up floor framing, formed and placed concrete, laid down underlayment, some exterior siding and prep for some of the other trades.

We really appreciated his experience with planning the layout of the remodel as well. While things may look good on paper or plans, it’s common that ideas don’t always work once you start building. He was great at picking those things out and giving suggestions on how to tweak the drawings.

In the end, we couldn’t be happier with how our project turned out.

“Kellan at Light Benders was a huge help on short notice. We were in the middle of a project and needed just a few skylight components for six different skylights on short notice. They would've been a special order item and taken several weeks to arrive from the factory, which would've thrown a big wrench into our plans. Kellan was able to find the six skylights in stock in their warehouse and was willing to open them up to sell us only the components we needed, and then re-order those same parts to replenish his stock. “RBP Construction demolished two old existing patios that were riddled with cracks and that contained a variety of conflicting slopes caused by erosion over time. Excavation was labor intensive because of limited access to the location and solid rock formations underneath portions of both patios. In order to make each new patio level, because of the slope, RBP had to build a retaining wall between each and install sixty feet of concrete curbing along the base of an existing sixty-year-old concrete retaining wall. The new curbing was particularly challenging because it needed to be accomplished without disrupting the structural integrity of the old wall…no easy task. After the project was completed we encountered a small drainage issue causing water to accumulate on the lower patio. In order to rectify this drainage problem RBP removed and repoured a sizeable portion of that lower patio at their expense. Bottom line, I was very pleased with RBP’s quality workmanship and the way they stood behind their work.
