1 W Forest Ave, Englewood“We’ve had a wonderful experience with my son’s kendo lessons. Master Kim is patient, respectful, and incredibly skilled at working with children. He creates a structured yet encouraging environment that teaches not only kendo techniques, but also discipline, focus, confidence, and respect for others.
My son looks forward to every class and has grown so much — both physically and mentally — since starting. Master Kim takes the time to guide each student and make sure they feel supported, regardless of skill level. It’s clear he truly cares about the students and the art of kendo.
I highly recommend these lessons to any parent looking for a meaningful and enriching martial arts experience for their child.“

6677A Broadway, Bronx“I was searching for a female-friendly space to learn self-defense when I found this gym, and it has easily been one of my best finds of 2025. Coaches Jhaydon and Orlando are exceptional—supportive, encouraging, and highly skilled. Their coaching in Muay Thai and BJJ has helped me build confidence while training in an environment that is both welcoming and disciplined. I’m equally grateful for the community here; it’s a place where I feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely supported as I learn. If you’re a woman looking for an MMA gym, I can’t recommend this place enough.“

38 S Dean St, Englewood“I have my twins enrolled at Tiger Schulmann’s, and in a few weeks I’ve already noticed a positive difference in their coordination and overall confidence. The instructors do an amazing job encouraging growth while also keeping the environment supportive, motivating and fun! The instructors genuinely care, and it is obvious in the way they work with each child in every single class.
My son is becoming more resilient and confident and my daughter, is starting to feel more comfortable and positive about herself. It’s been great to see both of them grow, not just physically but mentally.
Overall, we are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this located to all parents. 🥋🌟“

I knew I wanted to be active but was not wanting to go to a traditional gym. Glad I stopped by and signed up. My favorite part is there are other people here in the same boat as me, looking to make a change and be around like minded individuals. There’s no pressure and you are never forced into contact or anything that makes you uncomfortable. It’s nice when your “no face hits” boundary is respected. 5 stars!“

3 - 8:30PM
414 Grand St, Jersey City“The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.
But some secrets are too good to keep.
Family Fitness Karate in downtown Jersey City has become a quiet anchor in our week - a place where my two children are learning discipline, focus, and a kind of strength that isn’t loud but runs deep. Master Mike and every instructor carry themselves with grace, patience, and an understanding of how to guide kids not just in kicks and forms, but in life.
Fridays are special. Sparring night feels like something out of a storybook - electric, mysterious, full of energy and unspoken respect. And the Demo Team practices? Like being invited into a secret society, one where everyone bows in and belongs.
I’ve seen real change in my kids: more confidence, more calm, and a spark in their eyes that tells me they know they’re growing. Watching Petra bow to Master Mike as she received her belt - there was something quietly beautiful and deeply respectful in that moment.
I wasn’t going to say anything. But here I am, breaking the first rule. And I would do it again.“
9AM - 12PM
428 Teaneck Rd, Ridgefield Park“Sensei Zumo came highly recommended by our friend, Robert. We are very glad we signed up our 12 year old son. Sensei creates a welcoming and respectful environment while maintaining high standards and discipline on the mat.
He takes the time to make sure every student understands the fundamentals and improves at their own pace. We highly recommend this school to anyone.“

5 - 7PM
23-07 24th Ave, Astoria“We trialed the Little Tigers Program for two weeks (4 classes), and after his first class as an enrolled student, my son was excited to continue. He came home eager to show us what he had learned and couldn't stop talking about how much fun he had. The Strong Martial Arts team is family run, has deep community ties, and makes a genuine effort to know every student by name. Class sizes are small, and with multiple instructors providing guidance, each child receives plenty of attention. My son absolutely loves his classes and I've already noticed gradual positive changes.“
7 - 8:30PM
312 Clifton Ave 2nd Floor, Clifton“My son has been with Koei-Kan Clifton since he was 5 years old. They teach discipline, focus and technique with patience and kindness. In fact, they care enough to ensure children actually learn and master skills they can use on and off the mat, before advancing them up the ranks. This place is so much more than a Karate Dojo, it's a family, and one I'm proud to be part of!“

“Over the years I always wanted my kids to feel Inclusive and be able to socialize outside of school grounds and be active in a place they can feel comfortable and safe.
My eldest was a student of theirs and is always welcomed. My now 2nd child and other son has now entered. What I have always appreciate is the motivation and confidence they build into the children.
It feels welcoming to come in. Not just for students but also parents as well. The staff members are very helpful and respectful people. I would recommend it to my family and friends and everyone who does walk/drive/ or even Google this place up.“
