“Writing a thorough review because it is what helped me to pick this company, and maybe it will help reassure others they are making the best choice.Earlier this year, my parents' AC started malfunctioning in the house I grew up in. With much else on their plates, I decided this was one thing I could help them with. With a decidedly subpar experience with a company sent out by their home warranty, I did some research and made a short list of local companies that seemed to have the best reviews. Smart House was on that list, and due to their clear pricing for a diagnostic evaluation earned our initial business.Matt came out to the house and did a thorough workup, explaining in detail that our system was low on a type of coolant that was expensive because it was no longer made, and that even refilling it wouldn't guarantee that it wouldn't leak out or that our aging system wouldn't go bad from something else shortly after. He took time to answer many questions in a way that was clear and understandable. Without any pressure whatsoever, he went ahead and took measurements for a potential replacement just to make sure things could proceed as quickly as possible when we decided what we wanted to do. He further answered questions about what to expect with newer units and what it would entail to replace it.My parents then independently got a couple more quotes on their way to deciding on an AC/Furnace replacement. By all accounts, Matt was the most professional of the specialists they encountered and SmartHouse and their bid were the most clear as well as best value.Even as we proceeded, the office staff was top-notch. Jane was able to answer questions as well as help navigate that while things started under my name, it was for my parents' house and to get their sign-off as well.They were able to fit us in for the replacement faster than expected. Matt and Luke replaced the furnace and AC in a full-day job. Even things we had been worried about were already well thought out and addressed- for instance, the furnace needing a new in/out vent that we didn't previously have which they placed in a discreet area with an appropriate cover.All this was done in mid August, just in time for our brutal heatwave, and I can say confidently the new system tackled it with ease.From beginning to end, SmartHouse was an extremely professional and friendly company to work with. Every step of the way things were explained with ease and never once did they make us feel pressured. “I was in the market for a complete new HVAC system. I went through about 6 different companies and quotes and some were quite outrageous, while some companies I’m not sure knew really what they were doing. So I reached out to an old friend from back in the day (Andy), as I remembered him being a HVAC service technician. He gave me some great advice and eventually put me in touch with their sales rep (Jason). Jason walked me through each step during an install process, and eventually sent the information off for a proper and down to the dollar quote from (Robin).The quote was almost unbelievable. It was roughly half the overall cost as some of the other companies I interviewed. It was an offer we couldn’t pass up. A little less than a week later was install day, and I had 3 service vehicles outside my home 30 minutes early, just waiting to be on time! Jason my sales rep stopped by to make sure everything went off without a hitch and that his workers had everything they needed to start the day. Their vehicles were nice and clean and the technicians showed up well represented and in clean uniforms. So much so, they even got the attention from a neighbor and was able to get her a quote too! Before I knew it, these guys were down right putting in the work. At one point there were probably 5 techs here working at the same time. Eight hours later and the job was complete. We did an extensive walk through with our two main services techs (Mike and Jason), and couldn’t believe the attention to detail they provided us. Everything was plumb, level, and square, and the sheet metal work was superb! These gentlemen definitely knew what they were doing. We are extremely excited to have this top of the line system in our home, but even more pleased to have had it installed properly by true professionals of the trade. Please don’t hesitate to use Matheny the first time!“

“Jim is fantastic. He is a smaller shop, so he cannot necessarily get to you immediately if you want a new central air install, but his quality of work and monetary value for the service is totally worth the wait. It took him a few weeks to get started after we decided we wanted to work with him, but again, totally worth it to be patient. He communicated the delay and was upfront about what was possible and not possible in our 100+ year old, 2-story city home. He worked to find a solution that would do the job for us, and it has!Additionally, If something is not working properly or there is an emergency for anything heating/cooling related, he will be there to take care of you as soon as possible! He has worked on my parents' and my grandparents' homes multiple times when things go wrong, and it is common for me to hear that he was working til late evening or on weekends on an emergent issue for a customer.“

“Really pleasantly surprised with the Unique team - I've tried a bunch of other bigger name HVAC companies and always felt like I got pretty lax diagnostics and there wasn't much effort put into identifying and addressing the problem. I called Unique today and the wonderful receptionist did her best to squeeze me in ASAP (which she did - the guy was there in 15 minutes). Once he was here, he was super polite, worked quickly to rule out any alternative issues, found the problem, and didn't sell me on more than what I needed. He was out as quickly as possible and our house is cool again! “I knew both my AC and furnace were on their last legs when I called for my AC finally dying. Mark was able to come to my home within a day during busy season and went over my options. He did not try to sell me an overpriced system I didn't need and offered to replace the AC alone, but I decided to replace the entire system including the furnace. He and his employee came back quickly and got the new system fully installed within a few hours. The staff at the office was very courteous and kept in communication with me through the whole process, and the quote was well below what I expected it to be.“
