In fact, he recommended not to do some of my proposed work because of the older condition of the appliance and/or piping. Candidly, we just wanted to get the pipes into good enough condition to sell our house without scaring off buyers, and so the house inspector would agree that the primary issue was solved. There was a more extensive (expensive) fix that we would have pursued if we were going to continue owning the house, but this company agreed to try the simpler fix for us, so that the costs could stay lower.

They communicated that the cheaper fix might not be possible, because it's hard to know the real condition of the old pipes before they are cut. But they committed to trying for a simpler fix.
