“Ali saved me from a DIY disaster weekend and my beloved shag rug, my elderly cats favorite play space, is home safe once again.<br>My rug is the discontinued IKEA vindum rug, this rug is a monster, it's 7 by 9 feet, extremely thick fiber, densely tufted shag. It's so thick and cushy that you can nap on it and wake up feeling fine. I've had it nearly half my elderly cats life and he spends all of his play energy on it because he knows if he falls, it cushions his impact. A week ago I knocked over a tall cup of ginger ale which splattered the rug so thoroughly I knew a damp rag couldn't come close to preventing it from being an ant attraction.<br>Do you know how much water a shag rug can hold? Neither did I. By the time I realized I shouldn't have done it myself I'd already spent hours on my driveway trying to hose rinse the detergent I used out of it, over a day trying to get it to dry, only for it to still be damp and soapy, and my muscles and hands were absolutely toast.<br>I came inside and desperately started to read business listings, many said they don't do shag at all, some replied very hesitant telling me that shag is particularly difficult (oh goodness I know now!), and some were far without pickup and my tiny car couldn't fit anything over 5 feet long rolled. Then I found this shop, a couple miles down the road and had been in business long enough to know he wouldn't claim to be able to do anything he doesn't know he can actually do.<br>Not only did Ali pick up my still damp rug on a Sunday afternoon so I didn't have to risk leaving it outside overnight with the stray cats, or hurt myself even more hauling it back into my garage, but he had it clean and dry and back home with me on Wednesday after work, it looks and smells clean and he was kind enough to use only water by request as I get migraines from many cleaning products (part of why I'd tried to do it myself from the start).<br>My cat turns 17 in a few days and he will be able to have his birthday playtime on his favorite rug.”
