“After 30 years of dealing with constant repairs to our Flat Roof, we finally decided to go for a new one. Got many estimates and did a lot of research into the best method. The "oldtimers" wanted to do the "rip off the old one and tar and gravel a new one". That is SOOOO 1980's. The younger ones had several different methods, most of them way too expensive. The more I read the research, the more i liked the Silicone Method. It's fairly new but highly preferred by experts especially for the "Dreaded Flat Roof". I found Pitre Construction and Roofing, a family owned business that's been an East Bay (and beyond) favorite for decades. I dealt with Ricky Petri, the son of the founder. I really lucked out. He is a big proponent of The Silicone Method. It's waterproof, has no seams to fray and leak, keeps the house 10 degrees cooler (delightful during this current 90/100's heat wave). They offer a 5,10, or 15 year manufacture's warrantee, depending on the thickness of the silicone used. The roof is power washed first, then treated with a primer and taped flashing, then completely covered in General Electric manufactured Silicone. There are no seams. Ricky is a blast to deal with. He's a high energy, delightful young man who's been doing roofing with his dad since he was 5. The workers are professional, experienced and very tidy. We were totally thrilled with the result. If any of you have been dealing with the torment of a flat, or long-term leaky roof, i feel your pain. It's so comforting to not have to think about the upcoming rainy season for many years to come. Ricky's estimate was VERY fair, way cheaper then the 10 or more estimates some of which went as high as 16K. “I hired Pacific Coast Roofing for rain water leaking into my bathroom. They came and inspected my roof the day after I called. Mike found that the lead flashings cracked allowing rain water to leak in. Brian sent his guys over to complete the work and the attention to detail these guys have is truly amazing! While removing the tiles they found wood that was dry rotted and needed to be replaced. Some of the wood was painted so Leo asked me to get paint so that they could paint the new wood before installing so that it is all color matched. They also resealed my skylight and all the joints to the walls and vents. Once the roof was completed they cleaned out all my gutters as well. They work fast! Arrived by 08:30 and left around 15:00. I basically have a brand new roof now thanks to PCR and can have sum peace of mind for the next rainy season. Once the work was completed I received a PDF file in my email with about 40 detailed pics of the process and what all was done. “I got three estimates for a cleaning/cover installation. One tried to hard-sell me on a super-expensive job. One eyeballed it and gave me a ridiculously low estimate. Sunshine was the ONLY one to get out a ladder, go up, and actually look at the situation up there. I got a knowledgeable, friendly rundown, a reasonable estimate, and an expedited installation date. They were also thoughtful about what they replaced, by leaving some fascia boards and downspouts in place, that were still fine. As a consequence, the project cost was lower than other leading companies. Sunshine has LeafBlaster gutter guards that are top of the line too.
