“Our 18 year old Monier Lifetile Cedarlite roof had many broken tiles due to its inherent fragility and foot traffic from painters and solar equipment installers. Most roofers that we contacted refused to work on it because of its fragility. We eventually found 3 roofers who made bids (one without even going up on the roof!). We chose California Custom Contractors (CCC) because the owner, Greg Meo did a thorough inspection which he documented with photographs. His proposal, again carefully documented with photographs of the proposed repairs, was not the cheapest of the 3 but its thoroughness and Greg's obvious experience with Cedarlite tile roofs (again, more photos of past jobs) made the choice clear. We learned that CCC does not install new roofs but only does repairs.CCC cleaned moss and other debris from the roof, replaced and painted all pipe flashings, replaced all broken tiles and installed metal flashing to replace the original cracked lead flashing. All of the work done was documented with photographs. Our roof now looks fantastic and we are confident that there will be no leaks. Greg and his team of 3 very experienced workers were a pleasure to work with and get my highest recommendation. If your roof needs careful conscientious repair, call California Custom Contractors; despite their generic name, they only repair roofs.“

“Jon brings a lot of experience and integrity. He alerted us to the need to not mix types of exhaust vents on the roof (i.e. powered roof vent with ridge vents and gable vents). In doing more research as a result of that, I learned a lot and was surprised at how little other roofers knew or were willing to discuss. We ended up going with a different roofer when we had our roof replaced, but am regretting the decision. Now during the actual roof replacement, the costs of additional repairs to replace plywood sheating, trim pieces, etc from this other roofer are extremely high. In Jon's contract, he spelled out the costs including labor to do this additional type of work.“

“I had a roof leak that I couldn't find, a contractor friend looked at it and couldn't find it. I called Cornell Roofing and Clint Sr. came out and he couldn't find it but patched a couple of spots to try to stop the leak. The next time it rained, it was still leaking so I called Clint and told him that I wanted to get it re-roofed. He sent a guy out to tarp it for me and within a short time he had his crew on-site busting it out. Clint Jr. and his crew re-roofed and took care of all dry rot in two days. I highly recommend Cornell Roofing for your roofing project.“

“40 years ago Rollamatic installed a beautiful sliding glass roof over our atrium. We own an Eichler home. Our atrium is central in the house and it is also the main way we enter and exit our home. Whatever the issue Rollamatic has always taken care of our system...installing new glass when one of our kids broke the glass...installing a new motor after decades of use...tweeking the old supports for the system to roll smoothly. In our house the Rollamatic roof is more than a thing of beauty: it helps us stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer; and it protects us from the rain. We can either have an extra room i.e. the atrium, or open the roof 100% to enjoy the fresh air. It has also made it possible for us to have a beautiful indoor garden with flowering vines that cannot withstand our winter cold: bougainvilleas. “Just had them reroof the back half of our house in order to put on solar. They gave us a pretty good quote and they finished it quickly and it looks great. We even have a difficult spot on the roof and they were able to work around it with no issues. I definitely recommend them for any roofing needs. They also moved one of our vents and setup everything for the inspector. They cleaned up pretty well after they finished. One thing that would have been nice is if they cleaned the existing skylights while they were up there. But that wasn't why they were hired. They matched the color of our existing roof pretty well.“

“I hired Dave and his team about 6 years ago, but still remember the experience. We had a 40 year old clay tile roof (over slats) that was starting to sag. They came in and got straight to work, including tile removal, installing sheathing and repairing some dry-rot repair. One of his guys stepped through a ceiling and Dave made it right at no charge. Called in one of his dry wall subs and they fixed it straight away. Charged me what they quoted and did a quality job. Maybe two days? Only wished I had replaced the attic insulation when it was open through the rafters (before putting the sheathing on). Highly recommended!“

His presentation was professional and not high pressure, which is always a turn-off for us. “After 30 years of dealing with constant repairs to our Flat Roof, we finally decided to go for a new one. Got many estimates and did a lot of research into the best method. The "oldtimers" wanted to do the "rip off the old one and tar and gravel a new one". That is SOOOO 1980's. The younger ones had several different methods, most of them way too expensive. The more I read the research, the more i liked the Silicone Method. It's fairly new but highly preferred by experts especially for the "Dreaded Flat Roof". I found Pitre Construction and Roofing, a family owned business that's been an East Bay (and beyond) favorite for decades. I dealt with Ricky Petri, the son of the founder. I really lucked out. He is a big proponent of The Silicone Method. It's waterproof, has no seams to fray and leak, keeps the house 10 degrees cooler (delightful during this current 90/100's heat wave). They offer a 5,10, or 15 year manufacture's warrantee, depending on the thickness of the silicone used. The roof is power washed first, then treated with a primer and taped flashing, then completely covered in General Electric manufactured Silicone. There are no seams. Ricky is a blast to deal with. He's a high energy, delightful young man who's been doing roofing with his dad since he was 5. The workers are professional, experienced and very tidy. We were totally thrilled with the result. If any of you have been dealing with the torment of a flat, or long-term leaky roof, i feel your pain. It's so comforting to not have to think about the upcoming rainy season for many years to come. Ricky's estimate was VERY fair, way cheaper then the 10 or more estimates some of which went as high as 16K. If you're in the market or just tired with dealing with the stress of wondering which part of the ceiling is going to leak or fall this winter, give Ricky a call. He comes out, explains your options and gives you a free estimate.“
