From the moment we reached out, Barry showed a level of empathy, professionalism, and dedication that truly sets this funeral home apart.
What made this experience truly remarkable was Barry’s unwavering support throughout the entire process of arranging our friend’s body shipment to Europe. This included navigating international paperwork, handling insurance, and working directly with the European consulate—all while keeping us informed every step of the way.
Grieving makes even basic tasks feel impossible, but Barry made sure every document was in order, every signature collected on time, and every communication handled with care. He was a light in the darkness, helping us move forward when things felt too overwhelming.
If you're looking for a funeral home in Menlo Park that combines expertise with genuine human kindness, I cannot recommend Barry and his team enough. Whether you need local cremation services, funeral arrangements, or international repatriation of remains, this is the place to turn to.
As painful as loss is, Barry made sure we never felt alone.“

They were so kind, took care of a lot of the small details I was not able to think about and helped us with the whole process, every step of the way. I highly recommend them!“

Everything was expertly arranged for our family member's burial at Gate of Heaven. We highly recommend them and thank their whole team for caring for us so well during such a tough time. I believe they are one of the few family-owned funeral homes in the area and it definitely shows. A very personal touch.“

4323 Moorpark Ave, San Jose“Exceptional Funeral Services for My Father
Losing my father was one of the hardest moments of our lives, and I had no idea where to begin with arranging his funeral. From the very first call, the team made the entire process so much easier and more manageable for us. They guided us step-by-step—from helping us schedule meetings, to clearly explaining what needed to be done depending on the practices we chose (Catholic or Christian), to handling all of the important documents on our behalf.
Their advice was always practical, honest, and rooted in experience. One thing that gave us tremendous peace of mind was knowing that my father would be cared for with dignity during his full-body repatriation to the Philippines. They ensured that he would arrive safely and properly prepared, and we are forever grateful for that reassurance.
A special thank you goes to Tom Beddingfield, who was a true anchor through all of this. His patience, professionalism, and steady guidance made an overwhelming process so much easier for our family. I cannot thank him enough for a job exceptionally well done.
We also want to highlight the incredible work of Dean DeBruin, who created my dad’s video tribute. This was no simple task—my father had a massive and disorganized collection of photos totaling 16 gigabytes. Dean was unbelievably patient, kind, and accommodating through every revision and request. The final tribute was heartfelt, beautiful, and truly captured who my dad was.
The coordination between the funeral team and the church was seamless. The staff communicated directly with the parish where we planned to hold the viewing and funeral mass, which removed so much stress from us. We are especially thankful to Fr. Francis, who reached out personally to learn about my father’s life so he could honor him meaningfully during the service.
We would also like to express our deep appreciation to Noriel P. Adricula, the incredible singer and pianist who provided the music for the funeral mass. His performance was heartfelt and beautiful—exactly what my father deserved.
All who attended my father’s funeral were in awe of how beautifully everything was managed—professional, heartfelt, and all at a very reasonable price. We felt supported every step of the way, and we are truly grateful for the care this team provided to our father and to us.“

695 Arastradero Rd, Palo Alto“Don't quite understand the hateful one-star reviews, but this is human nature, especially when in stages of grief and post-mourning and such. And when great amounts of money are involved in this sort of service, well that's when those who survive the deceased and are tasked with making arrangements can lash out, I suppose. My family are extended relatives and long-time friends with the family who held the service at Alta Mesa. So my account is simply a visitor's experience. Daytime funeral was in a nice, bright, well ventilated space. It didn't feel depressing or lugubrious or anything oppressive. The occasion was sombre but the ambience was not. Perhaps the audio visual stuff could have been improved during the memorial. The building itself, I was told, is relatively new construction, within the past two years or so. The restroom facility is good, and the lobby is welcoming. Parking was a breeze. A cheerful person took us around the very peaceful pleasant sunny grounds to the burial site via golf cart, and he was extremely helpful, accommodating and kind to us and Mama with her mobility issues. I really don't have any complaints about Alta Mesa Funeral Home and Memorial Park. My family's experience as visitors attending services and then burial was as smooth as one could expect.“

805 Castro St, Mountain View“We had a family member pass away, and we were looking for a place that could help us with a simple direct cremation (no formal funeral services) and guidance for a veteran, and this place exceeded expectations. I called first thing in the morning on a Monday, and they were able to accommodate us right away that morning (they recommended calling to make an appointment). We met with Cornell, who was very experienced and helpful, guiding our family members, especially the widow, with the options and what to expect. Cornell also explained how the VA benefits process worked. We were told that they expected we could pick up the cremated remains and death certificates in about 3 weeks. They were ready in a week and a half. I also found the pricing to be very reasonable when comparing options in the area for direct cremation.“

“To all at Spangler especially Brian, I want to thank you for all you did for me as well my brother when my aunt passed on April 1,2026.
You went above and beyond words of gratitude are not enough.
A Death of a loved one is not easy and yet your compassion, empathy will never be forgotten. Being there at Forest Lawn in Glendale was like having my close friend near by. The close attention given to my aunt that too never will be forgotten. The casket was truly beautiful and the bronze rose sits next to my mom's.
Spangler Mortuary took much stress off of us and you treated us with much respect and dignity.
Yes,to this day I truly want the Truth as to what really caused my aunt's passing someone knows and I hope to find answers. Yes I told the Hospice nurse that I wanted an autopsy when my aunt was at the end and all the nurse did was look at me and when my aunt did pass I was asked are you really sure you still want and autopsy (shaking her head) I regret saying no. The doctors with Hospice cause damage as well as Good Samaritan Hospital the discomfort and pain they all inflicted was cruel and uncalled for. Instead of being honest with me the avoided the issue at hand.
The only consolation was that I had Brian who understood how I felt and even if it would be expensive in doing so at least I would have had real closure.
It has been a month and family members are still questioning who messed up why no one mentioned that horrible word it had Metastasis( that was never once told to me). My poor aunt died a gruesome most painful death I have ever seen and for her age of 94 she knew something was horribly wrong.
Death comes in all ages it is not just a number.
The medical professionals would often say what do you expect for her age? Seriously? Yes several physicians have said those words and i literally wanted to punch them the coldness was atrocious.
Just wait until it is your time.
Thank you again Brian and family..I highly recommend this Mortuary to all who need compassionate care when that dreadful day comes to make decisions. SPANGLER MADE IT EASY.
All the best,
Donna“
