Don't quite understand the hateful one-star reviews, but this is human nature, especially when in stages of grief and post-mourning and such. And when great amounts of money are involved in this sort of service, well that's when those who survive the deceased and are tasked with making arrangements can lash out, I suppose. My family are extended relatives and long-time friends with the family who held the service at Alta Mesa. So my account is simply a visitor's experience. Daytime funeral was in a nice, bright, well ventilated space. It didn't feel depressing or lugubrious or anything oppressive. The occasion was sombre but the ambience was not. We recently had my mother's funeral services at Alta Mesa. It is a beautiful place with a nice chapel. The staffs there are exceptional professional and friendly. We worked with Gaby, one of the funeral counselors, at the beginning who gave us a detail overview of the cremation packages. Avisha, another counselor, helped us plan and host the entire services. Avisha is a super star. She was extremely helpful, highly engaged, and very responsive via either phone call or email (sometimes even outside the business hours). I could not thank her enough for all the efforts she put in. It’s a difficult time for our family but Alta Mesa offered us a peace of mind. Highly recommended.
Kevin Ramage was our Funeral Director and was amazing to work with. He was compassionate, patient and understanding during this difficult time. My father passed unexpectedly quick on a Saturday. Without an appointment, my brother and I drove to Alta Mesa just to try and have a look. Luckily the phone service connected us to Kevin who told us he was there and would pop out to see us (we did not get that kind of reception at Gates of Heaven when we showed up without an appointment earlier that morning. Gates of Heaven has truly lovely grounds but the clinical, brusque business manner of the salesperson I'm assuming we met with was unfeeling and very much a business transaction...read full review
