“I usually don't write reviews unless someone goes above and beyond or I've had a truly negative experience. Ryan Preston from this funeral home absolutely went above and beyond.

I've been interested in the funeral business since 2018 and have reached out to places on and off just hoping to learn more. I wasn't even asking for a job, just insight, but no one ever took the time to respond. Ryan did.

He spent nearly two hours of his day talking with me, while still managing his work, answering all of my questions about the industry, his role, and what it's really like to be in this field. He even shared ways I could get started at an entry-level position, which was incredibly helpful and thoughtful.

It's rare to meet someone so knowledgeable and generous with their time, especially when they're not getting anything in return. Ryan is sincere, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about what he does. I only wish I had known about him when my own family needed services.

“Scott and Linda McAuley are a class act. They supported my father-in-law‘s preparation and burial with patience, compassion, thoughtfulness and professionalism. They also charged us thousands less than the first funeral home we visited. If you are looking for an outfit to capably handle every detail from retrieving your loved one’s body to making sure they are immaculately tended to through internment, I highly recommend them, especially if your loved one served in the armed forces since they offer a really nice veterans package. “I am eternally grateful for the service that Shannon Family Mortuary provided to us. After being in shock at the sudden passing of my uncle, we had no idea where to start. “Beautiful grounds overlooking adjacent hills and grassland. VERY well maintained, almost like a botanical garden! Workers were very conscientious when burying and handling casket. Neat, clean and very careful. Put sod on top of grave and tamped it down to proper level almost like it was never removed. Adequate and well marked roads throughout cemetery.“

“I highly recommend the Gardens Crematory. Their prices are very reasonable, but what truly sets them apart is their exceptional service. Bailey handled my father’s cremation, which was a complicated process due to some delays with the coroner’s office. Throughout it all, she remained calm, confident, and kept me updated almost daily, which provided so much reassurance during a difficult time. I sincerely hope I won’t need their services again anytime soon, but if I ever do, I would choose the Gardens Crematory without hesitation—especially because of Bailey.“

They were very professional in all this difficult time Mario was very helpful answering all my questions and giving me a good price to transfer my brothers body to Mexico with my mom. It’s my first time I loose someone in my family this close and having to do all paperwork which Mario made all this process easy and fast i did not have any problems or have to go do any other paperwork Mario may god bless you and your team always. “When you come to Olive Lawn looking for a place to bury your loved one like our family did, my youngest brother, you will feel you have found the perfect place. It just feels right. We as a family visited several other cemeteries, but when we all walked the grounds of this special place, something felt right for us to lay him to rest here. Was it the quiet peacefulness, simple beauty of the trees whispering in the light breeze, the manicured lawns? None of us could figure it out. Once we sat down and began to speak to the gentleman Seth, at the office, we finally understood what it was. This beautiful cemetery, has been lovingly cared for by the hands of the same family, for many many generations. It was the love and care my brother was going to receive we all could feel, that was present, here in this place. So, someday, if your loved one needs a place to lay their head, this would be a wonderful home for them.

“My dad was admitted to hospice at the beginning of 2025 and he wanted to start with funeral pre-planning. I did not even know where to begin and what to do. Portal of Peace was recommended by my father's hospice social worker. I also tried to call several funeral homes as well. I ended up choosing portal of peace after my conversation with Dave. He was the only one that actually took his time to go over all the details with me from point A through Z. Most representatives ended up brushing me off after a few questions. They referred me back to reading their business pamthletes and website. It was a breeze with the initial contract sending by Susie. It was easy peasy to communicate with Susize either via email, phone, or text messaging. When my father finally passed away, we were overwhelmed with grief and entered a panic mode. Susie once again stepped up to the game and walked us through all the necessary steps. She made a last minute accomodation for our family to dress our father in a proper attire. The cremation service was cozy, simple, and well organized as exactly how my dad would have wanted. The monk was able to perform praying service before the official cremation. My dad was treated with dignity and respect that he deserved. I rarely write reviews for any business, but I am taking the time out to write one today. I am so impressed with the superb and personal service at portal of peace. I highly recommend their services to anyone.“
