“I want to express my deep gratitude to the entire team under Dr. Ralph and his staff especially at Madigan Army Medical Center’s Emergency Department for the outstanding level of care and support they provided during my recent visit.

What stood out to me—beyond the medical professionalism—was the humanity, patience, and consistency every member of the staff showed, even on a busy Saturday night.

From the moment I arrived, the team allowed me the space to fully explain my concerns, symptoms, and medical history. They didn’t rush me, dismiss me, or push me through a system. They listened. That alone set a very different tone from what many of us, especially veterans, grow accustomed to in emergency settings.

Throughout my visit, the staff provided constant support and check-ins, making sure I understood each step, each test, and the purpose behind every decision. The level of communication brought clarity at a moment when most patients—myself included—are anxious, uncomfortable, or in pain.

Even after the immediate treatment was completed, the logistical support was exceptional. As a veteran, I appreciated how seamless they made the process of providing CT scans, medical notes, and the information I needed to follow up with my primary care doctor. They didn’t just treat the issue; they made sure the continuum of care was intact.

It’s easy for people to share negative ER experiences. And sometimes those stories matter. But it’s equally important—if not more so—to celebrate the teams who get it right. The ones who show up late at night, under pressure, and still manage to offer compassion, competence, and respect.

Madigan’s Emergency Department did exactly that. I left grateful, reassured, and genuinely impressed.

They deserve recognition—for their professionalism, for their empathy, and for reminding patients like me that great care still exists and should be acknowledged.

Thank you to the entire ER team at Madigan. You made a difficult night much easier, and I am truly appreciative.

“I came in today for the first time to establish primary care doctor patricia was amazing she actually heard me and took the time to help me ive never had a great experience with doctors but this appointment was very reassuring she didnt shrug my symptoms off she actually is trying to help with root cause im so blessed to have found her“

“Dr McNicoll is a wonderful doctor. Takes his time listens to what I have to say. Always explains what he wants to do and why. The receptionist and nurse are friendly helpful and always pleasant and caring.“

“The previous post while possibly true 7+ years ago, it's not the case now. They're open every business day, super fast appointments, kind/compassionate/caring staff. When you're initially on the medication they want to check in weekly but after you've come in a couple times they stretch it out to two weeks then three and then four as long as you're doing well. Better to make sure you're taken care of than give you medication and never check back in. I suggest coming in to see them 100% and have been for over 4 years.“
