Ashlee at Island roots is a straight up color/balayage wizard!!! I went from grown out dark brown box dye to having the most stunning cool toned blended dimensional blonde hair in two sessions. She is professional, organized and super transparent about the entire process. My hair is so soft and looks so much healthier after the coloring process and a trim to even out my grown out layers. I recommend scheduling with Ashlee for any hair cut or coloring service. Top tier stylist in Friday Harbor, I won’t see anyone else!
Camas Designs handled the florals for a Roche Harbor wedding I led recently, and the hanging install was the centerpiece of the entire design — genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces I've seen on a wedding day in this venue.

Kara is the BEST. She is so kind, flexible, and thoughtful, and created the most beautiful arrangements for our wedding. I didn't know specifically what the florals would look like, but she nailed the vibe and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Terri at Gentry Aesthetics. She did my first ever lash and brow tint and does a great job. My brows look natural and I am hooked on lash tint now. Although I am living off island now I still come over to see Terri. She is the best with your skincare needs.
Carla and her team at Shindigs are absolutely amazing! They were so delightful to work with throughout the entire process. We had them create a custom disco ball install in our reception space and just WOW, we were blown away. Carla's creativity, ingenuity, and attention to detail really SHINED. The disco balls truly added the perfect touch to our reception and made the perfect center piece for our dance floor. They were a dream to work with and made all the glassware, heating lamps, and extra rentals so easy to organize. Their process with the venue was seamless and we didn't once need to spend time thinking about the rentals over the wedding weekend. Truly AMAZNG!!

What an amazing find this was on San Juan Island in Friday Harbor. I was too busy while wrapping up business and getting my boat ready for my annual trip to Roche Harbor for the 4th of July to squeeze in a haircut and decided to find a "local" salon in Friday Harbor instead. I looked on Yelp and contacted a couple of salons and then decided to jump on the shuttle and make the 20 minute trip into town. I walked by Local and walked into an incredibly charming and cool salon and Connie was sitting behind the desk and after I asked about getting a walk in haircut she warmly whisked me in, sat me in her chair and gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. Connie is amazing, the shop is a stones throw from the center of town, great music and space. If anyone is looking for the best haircut in San Juan Island look no further than Connie at Local!

Friends of the San Juans shows up every day in civic halls and classrooms, on the water, and across our beautiful shorelines and island communities to protect the San Juans and Salish Sea. I love this work and am honored to be part of our team of protectors.
My little Macy kitty got sick on the road trip to San Juan Island. Islands Veteran clinic made time for us the day we arrived (even as a first time customer.) Everyone there helped her fell comfortable and got her feeling better right away. They did a great job so Macy & I highly recommends them.

We took a camping and hiking trip to olympic national park. The trip was fantastic! The tent was a very comfortable size for 2 people, delicious cooked breakfast lunch and dinner, beautiful hikes, and our guide was well prepared for rain. Would definitely recommend this trip.
We have used San Juan Heating for the HVAC systems on two houses and to correct the poor work done by another contractor on a third. They are outstanding. The installations were all done professionally and at a reasonable cost. Repairs have been addressed promptly and their diagnostic skills are superb unlike another contractor who just wanted to replace everything. They have come out in miserable freezing weather on holidays when systems froze. I cannot recommend them more highly.

No nonsense, compassionate care! My pup was neutered at Harbor Vet recently and they took very good care of him. The staff is lovely to work with, and clearly knows their stuff. I really like the low key approach and appreciate the low-zero wait times for appointments and when we go in. I am very glad we have this trustworthy option on SJI.
