He was so kind, gentle and accommodating. He gave me drops and covered my eye to keep me from touching it until I could get to a doctor. I cannot explain in words how deeply grateful I am. I didn’t get her name but there was a woman working at the desk who was also attentive. Both of them made a terrible situation less so. AJ thank you 100 times over.“

“I made an eye exam appointment through zocdoc, however, when I arrived at the store, it turned out that I was out of network. So sadly, I had to cancel my appointment. However, people working at the store and the doctor were amazingly kind and helpful during the process. So I’m giving five star review for their niceness ☺️“

“Updated review: after posting a 1-star review, I received a call from the store manager who is working to make things right. I appreciate her accountability and customer service.

Original review: I was convinced to get my reading RX in the lenses of my sunglasses. Now can’t use them. The prescription and the polarized lenses makes them unbearable. I went to the Rockefeller store to get the prescription lenses removed and to have them replaced with regular lenses. I was told simply replacing the lenses would cost $130 and the salesperson say it would be cheaper if I just bought a new pair for $95. That is so unbelievably callous, wasteful and ridiculous! I reached out to customer service and they responded with, “We are really sorry this happened, and we understand the frustration it is causing you.” No attempt to make it right. They lost a customer and I will tell everyone I know to avoid them.“

“I echo the many other positive reviews— I went to the same eye doctor my entire life until moving here and over the last four years I’ve been going to locations of a well known chain “optometrist” (aka glorified designer frame store) and was prescribed the wrong contact lense prescription last January and Dr Smith listened and immediately addressed my concerns and got me back to the correct prescription (Writing this while being able to wear contacts without getting a migraine for the first time in a year).

He also immediately went over my insurance benefits before starting the appointment, going over what was covered and what was not and exactly what I should expect to pay in the end— something that should be basic practice but unfortunately is rare. As someone with an anxious/curious mind I was also grateful for the transparency and thoroughness during the exam portion, explaining in detail what he was testing for throughout.

“Today I dropped into Sterling Optical to see if I could have my sunglasses tightened. They’ve been falling down my nose constantly for a couple of years now and of course the heat in summer makes it worse. When I came in I was greeted warmly by Suzette and she was able to schedule a fitting with Steve in only 30 minutes. He was able to quickly fix my sunglasses. Now they sit perfectly on my nose and no slippage! Why didn’t I do this years ago? And when I offered to pay, Suzette told me it would be no charge! This is NYC, who charges nothing doing something amazing?! There’s a reason their rating is so high. I’ll definitely be back to have my next pair of glasses done here.
