Some have been adequate and others not so much, then there is Paws on Fifth with Erica Castaldo heading the "pack". A more conscientious and caring pet advocate I have never experienced. Please notice what a difficult service this is, tending to so many animals and owners. There is a necessary level of noise and dog hair and driers on an on-going basis, yet they persevere and each pet is as important as the next. After 5+ years of having 3 cats at Heart of Chelsea (2 routine/healthy cats, one who went through an uncommon illness) we couldn’t be happier and have never been disappointed.

It’s a 25 minute trip for us, but easily worth it.

“Honestly, this place is lovely. I have been to many vets over the years and I have never felt as safe as I do here. They do not shame- my cat is overweight and they remained focused on a plan, not on making me feel like a bad pet parent. Whats even crazier is that my cats do not fear the carrier. While they will cry in the car once they are in the vet office they are calm. They come home relaxed. I think about all the trauma my other cats had at previous vets and it honestly breaks my heart knowing this was an option the whole time. VCG are profoundly lovely and caring people.“

“My cat, Zephyr, and I are grateful beyond words!!!!! I recently moved back to NY and didn't have a regular vet setup yet when my cat required emergency dental extractions. Every other vet I called (I called many!) required multiple, costly pre-procedure visits before they would do any dental procedures. My cat was in pain with an active infection in his mouth and this was unacceptable!! Not only was Crawford Animal Hospital the most affordable, but I was able to walk in without an appointment and have his procedure done on the same day!! Dr. Josh was incredibly compassionate towards my cat's needs and my financial situation, and the staff were all so professional, friendly, and clearly love animals. The procedure itself went well and I was able to take my cat home on the same day. He recovered quickly that evening and was 100% by the following morning. “I’ve been coming here for years with my pets!!

I have a very aggressive and large dog and they so kindly squeezed me in when he started limping. They were extremely patient with both me and my dog Sam. Dr. Kremmerman, Malik, Diana and the front desk staff (I’m so sorry I forgot your names!!!) were absolutely wonderful and made this process so much less stressful. I had been dreading coming in to get the help he needed because of his aggression. I’m so incredibly glad I came. Thank you guys so much from the bottom of my heart!!!

“The team at the Veterinary Care Group was exemplary. They were able to get the tests done with me in the room to see what was being done. My cat is a feral rescue and she is very vocal but she was calm and was even snoring with her eyes open. I felt very comfortable with this kind and talented team.“

“I brought our family’s 16-year-old senior cat, Sonny, here for the first time after he hadn’t been to a vet in years, and overall we had a positive experience.

The wait wasn’t long, which we really appreciated. The clinic itself is a bit older in appearance, but the staff was very kind and welcoming. Julie in particular was wonderful — she made us feel at ease, didn’t pressure us into anything, and was so patient while handling our very spicy senior cat.

Dr. Papak was knowledgeable and thorough, and we really appreciated that she is bilingual. That was a big plus for our family since Sonny lives with my Spanish-speaking parents, and it helped ensure everything was clearly understood. We were also happy to hear that, at 16 years old, Sonny’s teeth and overall condition looked great.

At one point, the communication in the exam room felt a little tense, and I just hope staff interactions can always feel as supportive as the care they provide, especially since the techs were doing such a great job with a difficult patient.

Overall, Sonny received good care, the team was kind, and the location is very convenient for us, so we would return.“
