Ten Tigers Kung-Fu Academy Martial Arts Schools

“Ten Tiger Kung Fu is absolutely wonderful! The instructors are compassionate, professional, and incredibly thorough in their teaching. They not only focus on technique but also on building confidence, discipline, and respect. Both of my kids truly love and enjoy their classes.

We’ve tried Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, and Karate in the past, but nothing has compared to the passion and joy they’ve found in Kung Fu. This is where their hearts are, and it shows—they leave every class feeling energized, proud, and happy.

Since starting Kung Fu, I’ve noticed such positive changes in both of my kids. They’ve become more confident, more active, and much more willing to express themselves. It’s amazing to watch them grow stronger—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

I couldn’t recommend Ten Tiger Kung Fu enough—it’s been an amazing experience for our family!“

Chris Gates Tae Kwon Do Health Center Martial Arts Schools

“This is going to be a long review, so, buckle up.

My boys took TKD at Chris Gates TKD Center from 2016-2022. In those 7 years, they earned countless stripes and belts, including their Junior Black Belts. Yes, it's been a while since they've attended a class here, but I am inspired to leave this review.

TKD and Boy Scouts were always "non-negotiables" in our household, meaning our sons (now 14 and 16) could drop any other sport/activity they wanted except these two. We loved the morals/teachings of these two programs as they aligned with our family's values. To date, both boys are still in BS with our older son getting ready for Eagle.

When our boys first started TKD they were 4 and 7. The 4 yr old was the tiny, feisty one while the older one was a gentle, old soul. The older one sometimes got picked on because he was an easy target. He never wanted to "fight back" despite being of size and ability because he never wanted to get either himself or the other child in trouble. All it took was a couple of good talks from instructors like Sir Chris, Sir Joe, Sir James, Sir John, and Sir Bryan to boost his confidence and defend himself. After the first time he stood up to a bully, he was emotionally and mentally able to defend himself and his little brother any time something arose in the future.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, December 2024. My younger son has recently started playing hockey. He's on a travel team and says it's his favorite sport despite only being on this team for 3 months. There has been a few physical altercations with one player attacking other players. Each time this happened, my son was the one to step in and break up the fighting. Two weeks ago, this one boy had another in a headlock. The victim couldn't breathe and his nose started bleeding. My son was the ONLY teammate to step in and get the bully off the victim. Once he got him off and calmed them down (lots of screaming, punches, scratches, etc.), he sat the boys down and got both sides of the story. The bully even started verbally assaulting two other boys and my son got him to stop. A coach finally came into the locker room to handle the situation. My son was worried because he knows there's zero tolerance for fighting and kept saying, "I'm sorry, but I had to. I had to get [bully] off [victim]."

The next day I received two phone calls. One from the mom of the physical victim and one from the mom of the verbal victim, both thanking my son for saving [name] and if it weren't for my son, the outcome could've been much worse because that bully was not stopping despite the victim losing consciousness and bleeding.

When I spoke with my son, he kept apologizing again. I said, "Do not apologize, we ALWAYS stand up to the bullies and fight for the victims. You are a black belt in TKD and it's taught you to defend yourself and others when the time comes." My son said "Thank G-d I'm a black belt because [bully] wasn't stopping and [victim] couldn't get out of that chokehold." I said he saved [victim's] life because who knows what could've happened if you didn't stop him.

THIS is what TKD teaches! You don't instigate the fight, but, the physical, emotional, mental training you receive will allow you to stand up to those who want to cause harm. During the 7 years my boys were at Chris Gates, they learned discipline, perseverance, courageousness, etc. and these are the principles are now carried with them years later. Yes, we raised them with these values, but, this CHTKD reinforced our familial values. Without those years with Chris, Joe, John, James, Bryan, Charles, Juliana, Heidi, Steph, Aidan, (and so many others I'm sure I'm forgetting), I don't know if my boys would have the courage, valor, and fearlessness to navigate this crazy world.

There is so much ev“

“We’ve been attending Grand Master KY Lee Tae Kwon Do for about 3 years and we couldn't be happier with the experience! The instructors, especially Master David, are incredibly patient, skilled, and supportive, creating an environment where kids not only learn martial arts but also develop valuable life skills like discipline, focus, and respect. My child has made incredible progress, both physically and mentally. He’s become more confident, disciplined, and it’s clear that the structure of the classes has helped instill these qualities. The classes are always engaging, fun, and challenging in the best possible way. Master David makes sure that each child receives individual attention and encouragement, which helps them succeed at their own pace. The dojang is clean, well-maintained, and the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive. It's been an amazing experience, and we look forward to many more years of learning and growth here!“

Emerson Souza Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Martial Arts Schools

“My two boys, now ages 10 and 5, have been attending Emerson Souza BJJ for a little over a year and they LOVE it! Emerson is a world champion and an amazing instructor.Emerson is patient, but commanding. He is fun, but thoroughly trains these kids to do and master complex moves. He is genuinely concerned about how these kids approach life in general. He instills patience, discipline, hard work and respect.Emerson brings these ideals and fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu into their everyday lives. From building relationships, working hard in school, respecting rules set by your parents and your teachers, helping out at home to diffusing potential conflicts. He has had a real impact on my boys, who look forward to seeing their coaches and friends, every time they go to class. And not only him, but all of his instructors have the same amazing qualities. It really is like a family.“

The instructors are not only knowledgeable in Taekwondo but are also fantastic with the kids. Also, I have seen positive changes in my daughter since she started attending classes. One of them is her increased self-confidence. I am thankful for the positive impact the experience has had on her. I highly recommend this school to parents in search of a martial arts program for their children.“

“This Tae Kwon Do center is great. My son loves going. He has been going since he was 5. We saw the demonstration team at one of the Lindenhurst fairs. Started out with Tiger kids and is now in the Child program. Master Sailor and Master Alex are great instructors. Instructor Karen is the first person you see when arriving. They instill the discipline these kids need. You greet all the staff with a bow and either “Hello ma’am” or “Hello sir”. My son is currently on his orange belt. He was invited to join the black belt club and attends a nunchuck class and just received his Dedication pants. If anyone is thinking about joining they usually run a special to tryout it out before committing. Could not give enough praises about everyone.“
