“I needed plumbing work done on my mom's house which is 60 years old. I called several plumbers including Plumb-Rite for an estimate.
The job was inclusive, there were 2 faucets to be replaced, main 4 inch cast iron stack changed to 4 inch PVC adapter, main house water shut off replaced, 3 inch hot water heater vent pipes changed to 4 inch vent pipes for safety plus to meet township code regulations, and snaking main sewer line which was running slow.

“We were looking to upgrade our 3 AC unites and 2 heating systems to more efficient services. JDS was one of the 5 companies that we had come out and give estimates for us. What stood out the most to me was the tailored analysis that we got of our system. From specifics on the compatibility of our thermostats, to analyzing each individual unit to say whether it was really worth upgrading (one AC unit would not have been worth the cost) to an actual breakdown of cost in terms of what to replace them with. Initially I had wanted to go with a heat pump, but after talking with Joe and comparing the cost of electric vs gas heating costs, in the long term (we looked at the cost over the life the systems) it ended up being cheaper for me in the long run to go with a regular AC unit and forced air furnace instead of going with the heat pump and furnace. And that included a comparison and the state and national rebates. So I really appreciated the individual attention and knowledge of the state of the industry which was something no one else provided.

In addition to that, clearly I had a lot of questions and there was a lot of back and forth on a range of topics, and at no point did it feel like a burden. Joe was very responsive and open to all my questions and even my pushback at time. His openness and communication was something that I have found to be a rarity when looking for people to service my house, and it was really refreshing to see someone willing to engage with me in a collaborative way, and not just here is what I think is best. It was, here is why I think this makes sense for you, and I will take the time to explain it.

The communication extended to the installation. I knew a week in advance when the installers would be coming and how long they would need to be there. The workers showed up on time, and the foreman Phil made sure to walk us through everything that was going on clearly. They finished ahead of schedule and cleaned up after their work.

I really can’t say enough good things about JDS. This is my 3rd different home and in that time I’ve dealt with no less than 3 different HVAC installs. This was by far the best experience I’ve had, and would recommend them to everyone who is looking for anything HVAC related. They are not the cheapest out there, but if you want something done right and tailored to you, they should be your choice.“

“We had an older Heatmaker combination unit boiler that was 32 years old that needed to be replaced. We started out with several estimates and first decided what could be used in our space constrained garage. We decided on a Navien combination unit and focused a obtained a couple more estimates. Dawson in fact was one of the last estimates we obtained. While Dave from Dawson had the benefit of us being well along the learning curve, he was able to answer all of our questions about the new unit and how best to solve the condensate dilemma. He even was spot on with regards to treating our well water to minimize scale buildup in our new boiler. We knew we had reached that point where we felt we had found the best installer in Dave.

Dave verified his condensate solution with the local township inspector and we scheduled the install date in two weeks. Carlos and Pablo showed up on time and dismantled the old unit and piping and did a first rate and well thought out installation job. Carlos had extensive experience installing these Navien units and it really showed. They managed to work in a tight space that PSE&G’s installers would not have with relocating a well tank. After all the plumbing was done, Ricky did the electrical work and adjusted some final dip switch settings before firing up the new boiler.

Dave and his crew really are top notch. His front office staff (Wanda and Ondrea) made the PSE&G interest free financing and permitting approval process seemless. We are looking forward to the operation and efficiency of our new high efficiency boiler for years to come.
