We’ve been going to Parkwood now I would say for over a year and we have received nothing but the best care for my pup. Times where my dog has worried me, we’ve called and they don’t just automatically say “bring her in” they make honest recommendations before they just take your money like other vets. Dr Elise Hattingh was very thorough explaining everything during the exam. The staff was very professional/helpful and friendly upon arrival. “They were very patient and understanding with my nephew's cat. She was a farm cat he inherited which had not been to the vet in years. She's a bit temperamental and not used to being handled. The tech and doctor got down on the floor and met the cat where she was comfortable. They gave us advice and medication for future visits. They did not shame us at all for the cat's condition as they know we are doing what we can to get her healthy. She was actually quite comfortable after a few mins. I also brought my dog in and she made new best friends, the treats helped. lol. Caring, and genuine vibe. They explained everything clearly and gave options about care that worked within our budget.“

“The care we receive here from Dr. Smith is top notch. Our dog is a difficult patient with a complicated medical history, and she is always so patient with him. We recently went through a big health scare with him, and she was wonderful every step of the way. I felt like she was genuinely feeling all of the emotions we were feeling as we made decisions for him, and she was able to get him in at NC State for surgery. She has been a partner in his care and shown true interest in his wellbeing. We continue to travel almost an hour to come to Dr. Smith even after having moved out of Durham because of the level of care our little guy receives.“

“Recently moved back to Durham and found that our beloved previous vet had moved away. I was concerned that we wouldn't find another vet we trusted as much as her but I needn't have been. Dr Hedges and her team are remarkable. They are great listeners, clearly very invested in doing what's right for each animal they treat. The initial paperwork is the most comprehensive I've ever seen, and I've worked in veterinary reception in the past. I've never felt rushed or dismissed. I highly recommend this practice.
Speaking as a former veterinary receptionist, I would like to point out that vet appointments can be very fraught and emotional and owners sometimes don't fully understand what they've been told about their pet's condition(s) and likely outcomes. It can be overwhelming as an owner. Additionally, many owners don't have a good understanding of how veterinary practices/hospitals/billing work, expecting it to be the same as hospitals and medical practices for people. People often have a skewed understanding of costs, in particular, because they have insurance for themselves and seldom, if ever, see the actual full costs for their own medical care. Keep that in mind as you read reviews of any practice.“

My dog's eye was inexplicably swollen shut and as an anxious pet owner I panic called Broadway Veterinary to see if they could get her in ASAP. I am so grateful that Dr. Hartz was able to see us urgently (same day!) and she took such good care of my girl. She figured out what had happened and her treatment plan started working right away. Within a week everything was back to normal!

“This service is an absolute life-saver for those of us who adopt skittish animals. My two cats are lovely and wonderful members of our family, but they are also the most suspicious cats on that I have ever had.

Getting them a regular vet would be difficult to near impossible. I have always tried to find vets that would make house calls for my cats, because I tend to only adopt the hard to adopt.

I am happy to say that Local Mobile Veterinary Service is excellent. I think we have had 3 different veterinarians from them over the last 3 years and all have been excellent.

The most recent appointment, the meds wore off sooner than I would have liked and our most skittish cat did everything in her power to escape, ultimately ending up under a desk. Without hesitation, so as not to cause the cat any additional stress to our cat, the Veterinarian did the exam under the desk.

Obviously, this was not ideal. We did our best to get her into a bathroom, but she decided to hide in the office. I can honestly say that without the caring folks here, I am not sure I could get her examined without a lot of effort and a lot of drugs.

Having this service available gives my cats excellent care and me piece of mind. I cannot recommend them enough.“
