“Dr. Karen Jones of F. Y. Eye Care Associates worked me into her busy schedule the morning after I described to her that I had experienced an acute late night episode of a large floater which had temporarily obscured the vision in my left eye’s inferior nasal quadrant.

As a retired optometrist, I have had the privilege of providing and participating in eyecare to patients for more than three (3) decades. After passing the torch to the next generation, I now have become the patient. Trust in one's healthcare provider has to be earned by that individual’s display of genuine concern and professionalism.

Dr. Jones provided my complete and comprehensive medical eye exam to reassure me that I had experienced a common ocular anomaly referred to as a vitreous detachment. Fortunately, it was not the more serious ocular medical emergency of a retinal detachment which could have resulted in a permanent vision loss. She assured me that all the tests performed, i.e. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Automated Visual Field, OptoMap retinal scan, Intraocular Pressures, Dilated Fundus check, etc., indicated that all was well and I only need to be monitored periodically.

I realized after the exam I may have been squinting (don’t do that). Sure enough my new prescription was incorrect. They immediately rescheduled a new exam and had my new prescription in six days. months later I mentioned that one of the two pairs of glasses that I purchased gave me a headache. They had me return the glasses and I picked out a new pair which are working out just fine. Maggie, Lisa, Sean were so helpful that I never felt like I was complaining. Now, unfortunately, I scratched my lenses and they are replacing them, no charge!!

“My father came in and got both of his eyes done for cataract surgery over the course of a few months. Dr Whiteside is the kindest doctor I’ve had the pleasure to work with my dad. After each surgery he personally called my dad to ask how he was doing. I’ve never had a doctor do that, ever. They even sent us a Christmas card (not sure if it was them, or the Novant hospital, but either way). All their office staff is kind and patient with my dad. Would highly recommend Dr whiteside.“
