“After years of talking about having our front hill landscaped, we decided to “take the plunge”. Cascade Landscaping was quick to give us a bid, which was much more affordable than we expected. The crew arrived sooner than we anticipated (a good surprise!) and we only had a general idea of what we wanted. The design of the project went through several changes which Baldemar and his crew took in stride, working patiently with us as we finalized a plan. Two days later our difficult to mow, dirt and weed hill was transformed into a nicely terraced area with a dry river rock bed, ready for planting. When we expressed surprise that the crew was doing all the work by hand we were told that they chose not to use a machine to avoid damaging our boulevard garden, a detail we really appreciate. “I recently bought a home with a very steep backyard. It was just grass (barely) and pretty much unmowable due to the extreme slope. I had always wanted a water feature and nice landscaping so I found Refuge based on a lot of research and their high ratings and reviews. The reviews were not wrong. Matt came out and met with me and we talked for quite some time. As he got to know me, what I wanted (and didn’t want) in a backyard, Matt and his designer came back with a plan that I could have never conceived of in my wildest dreams. What blew my mind was how they made the rendering come to life in the final product. They created a very large berm with evergreens to address my concern about privacy as well as a huge stream which makes use of the steep hill. They surrounded it with tons of rocks and boulders and native evergreens, trees and plants. One of my friends that came by said that it totally reminded him of a recent trip he and his girlfriend had taken to Duluth to look at the waterfalls. Everyone is in awe of the beautiful oasis that Matt and his team created. Matt and his crew have to be some of the most passionate people I have met. Every single one of the people on his team takes great pride in their work. When I came out for the final reveal, I’m not going to lie, it brought tears to my eyes. And one of the best parts was seeing the looks of pride on the faces of the crew as I oooed and ahhhhed at their work. They are true craftsmen, I was so impressed with how hard they worked and how much they cared about every little detail. As with every large project, of course there are going to be some hiccups along the way. To me, that is a given and it’s not that the hiccups occur, but more importantly, how they are handled. Matt listened to all of my concerns and addressed any issues to my satisfaction. I couldn’t be more pleased that I selected Refuge and would hire them again in a minute. “We hired Precision Landscape & Tree to remove a massive and problematic Cottonwood tree 6 feet from our dining room window and to prune another in the back of the yard. We also needed some advice on recabling a Honey Locust and pruning a large Maple in the front yard.

This was a huge job broken up into two days. First, the team came to inspect the Honey Locust and prune the Maple. Then on day two, they tackled the two Cottonwoods. The crew arrived at 7:00 a.m., polite, friendly, and ready to work. Once the crane was set up, everyone worked like a well-oiled machine. The efficiency in keeping the job moving, simultaneously keeping the street clear of debris, was terrific to see.

“I must have reached out to 8+ landscaping companies, and while I could get some of them to come out to take measurements, few of them followed up with estimates and when they did, some of them quoted me THOUSANDS of dollars. Brian was able to offer us straightforward and practical solutions to fix the negative grading on the back and side of the house, fix an existing window well and install another window well. He was also able to work with our tight budget and even helped us to lift our AC Unit that was being impacted by the negative grading. I love being able to spend all of my 'outdoor time' working on my landscaping projects instead of that time being taken up by mowing. In addition to the work itself, I like that I get an email every week the day before they're going to be there. While they show up on the same day every week (except for the occasional rain delay), it's still nice to get the email reminder, considering how fast the days seem to go by).“

“Very happy with Lone Oak. This is my third summer in my house. They installed the system here so I continued with them. They show up on time. When something has needed to be fixed, they've done it reasonably priced. Especially true when the entire back of the system was destroyed by the company who installed my fence.

Edit: Now my 9th summer. Lone Oak has still been great. Turn-on/blow-out prices have increased but still well worth it.

When the city did backflow inspections, I had zero issues. My system had been installed properly and I didn't have to do anything.

This spring, my front zone didn't work when they came to turn on the system. They were back today. I came home to huge holes in my front yard. The roots of the maple tree in the boulevard had pinched off the lines. They bypassed the problem.

As they were finishing, I was shocked that I could barely tell they had been here. (First two photos were the huge holes. Last one was right after they left.)

Bob and the guys at Lone Oak seem to have installed a quality system. And when issues have arisen, not their fault, they have resolved them for me for reasonable prices.“

Mick came and assessed my situation (56x22x3 foot retaining wall), came up with a plan and informed me of ways I could save money on the project (usually folks are trying to upsell instead of save their clients money!). When they came to do the project, they were very professional, nice guys. They did a great job and cleaned up at the end of every day. They even swept the street out in front. They cared for my property and at the end, the leveled my lawn (which had been damaged by their equipment) and seeded it and laid hay down. The grass was back in a few weeks! The even seeded my neighbors lawn below their side of my retaining wall (where there was only dirt before) and mulched below the other neighbors (where there has been mulch before).
