During the extreme cold weather and ice/snow storm on the Eastern shore of MD late January into February 2026, caused the drain pipe from the unit in our attic that routes outside to freeze causing our furnace to stop working. We noticed the drop in temperature while monitoring the thermostat APP while we were in Florida visiting family on a Saturday afternoon. We called Hometown and left a message, and also sent an email explaining the problem and told them we were in Florida with no way to check on the problem. The owner called us back within an hour and we arranged access to our home. He went out and identified the issue and was able to temporarily get the heat working again by turning it on emergency heat. Two days later he sent his service technicians back to the house and they carefully removed the frozen pipe, rerouted a new insulated pipe, and turned the emergency heat off. Can’t thank them enough as they had numerous service calls due to the unusually cold weather lasting two plus weeks, yet they took the time to assist us quickly averting a catastrophic disaster while we were out of town.
