5050-A Nicholson Ln, Rockville“I was looking into after school activities for my kids and considered various sports, gymnastics, and martial arts before deciding to enroll them in WTMA. As parents, we looked for a program that would instill values and lessons to our children that they can carry with them now into adulthood. With the free trial here, both my kids were able to be challenged both physically and mentally and showed interest in committing to learning taekwondo. Although we've only been enrolled for about 4 months we already see the benefits of our investment in these classes as our children have grown not only in their physicality and flexibility but also in their confidence and discipline. They always look forward to attending their classes and strive to attain their next belt rank. The schedule is also very flexible (4 options a week for their level) and makeups are easy to do as you can just drop into more classes if one is missed from the previous week. The instructors and staff are very organized and respectful, and the community of children and parents enrolled are warm and welcoming as well. We are so happy to be part of the WTMA family!“

6 - 10PM
8546 Springvale Rd, Silver Spring“I’ve had the pleasure of training with Sifu Michael, and I respect how seriously he takes his craft and how he shares his knowledge.
It is a serious environment with no goofing off, but it’s never to a point where one has to walk on eggshells.
It’s also a great community with enthusiastic people who all train for different reasons. I will say that it may be difficult to simultaneously train in another school, since the principles of wing chun are specific, although I’ve met people who’ve managed to make that work for themselves.
Highly recommended“
6:30 - 7:30PM
900 S Washington St b101, Falls Church“I highly recommend this school, and these instructors!
It's been an absolutely *fantastic* learning experience. Husband & wife team of Shifu Chris & Weiwei Friedman are obviously, **extremely** knowledgeable and accomplished in Shaolin Kung Fu -- and very fit, too! They're also friendly, patient, and have a great sense of humor. And the other students are kind and friendly, too. We're all just learning and improving together.
The classes and training are suitable for adults of all ages, if you have decent basic mobility. You don't need any prior knowledge or training in martial arts. This is NOT like a kickboxing or cross-fit class ... it's not at that intensity level, but you can get a good workout from it.
I studied martial arts MANY years ago -- including earning a black sash in a different system of kung fu, having studied at schools in 3 different states to earn that. The other system was "good," but this experience with Shifu Chris & Weiwei is far more authentic, informative, and enriching.
I had subscribed to Inside Kung Fu Magazine for 20yrs, and was surprised that Shifu Chris had articles in several of those back issues (!!) from when he & Weiwei lived in China years ago. There he is ... studying and training with the leaders and students there!
Try this out. You will like it. ??“

His attention, strength and coordination have all been positively affected. He has a speech delay and the instructors have been so kind and supportive. We truly love Kicks Karate Glen Echo!“
“My son is thriving here! Mr. Esau is patient and knowledgeable and FAIR. He holds the children accountable without being cruel. This is a nurturing environment.
My son has ADHD and he is able to keep up and not get bored. Also, they have other team building activities. Today was the countdown to 12 noon (this is being posted on New Years Eve). We didn't get to go since we were out of town, but this was a genius idea and super cute.“

3 - 9PM
11226 Triangle Ln, Silver Spring“If you want to build muscle, burn fat and have fun you NEED to sign up for Kareemah’s classes at Roda Movement. Kareemah is brilliant in designing exercises that target those small and big muscles all over your body (and esp the core). She seldom repeats her routine so you won’t feel bored of the same exercises. Because I have very tight hamstrings, and others in class may have weaker knees, she is clued in and attentive and will suggest modifications. I am convinced that I have gotten stronger and leaner as a result of Kareemah’s classes!“

3001 Sherman Ave NW, Washington“I started training at Barro Vermelho 8 years ago after moving to DC. I had done a few years of capoeira regional before. I looked around and tried classes at a couple of places, but ultimately chose BV because of the great community. Friendly students, and a very open, non-hierarchical or stand-offish group. Mestre Bomba is very accessible, and easy to talk to. Also very relaxed compared to some capoeira mestres out there. If you're looking for a great workout, with community and self defense, this is it.“
10AM - 9PM
5017 Wilson Ln, Bethesda“One of the true traditional Okinawan martial arts forms. Not sport karate. There are plenty of very qualified knowledgeable instructors for adults and kids! I've been to others, and I would not go anywhere else! This is the real deal for self-defense!“
“JKA Virginia is an excellent dojo teaching traditional Shotokan karate. Sensei Hanjani's classes are energetic and thoughtful; with varied exercises that are grounded in the fundamental principles of traditional Shotokan.“
