“Pull up a chair, grab a drink…this is going to be a long post! When I fell in love with a fireplace surround at an antique store, I wondered if I could find a contractor who could ‘work backwards’ to make a dream happen. I met with two contractors who promptly ghosted me. I though about putting the darn surround on e-bay. Luckily, The Stove Place-where I bought the propane stove- put me in touch with Chad. From the first meeting I appreciated Chad’s confidence, insight and enthusiasm. It’s infectious. He quickly pulled the permits and got to work. The added touch of putting down thick cardboard to protect the floor from all the traffic that was going to happen was extremely considerate. He treated the project like it was happening at his house. He was always on time, one step ahead with planning and very respectful yet easy going and kept mum and I laughing. I felt included with what he was hoping to accomplish each day and even the following day. He organized the electrician and was ruthless with getting the inspections completed. Chad’s skill with framing, dry wall, plastering, anything to do with wood really, is top notch. He works carefully and has a high personal standard that shines through his work. He has a tool for everything. Never did he have to run out to grab anything. He arrives prepared to tackle the unthinkable! This was our first major indoor renovation project. “I wanted to share my review because of the several positive aspects of the second story deck project FS Construction completed for us. It also involved replacing a window with a patio door. When we did our initial research, we felt overwhelmed with the amount of options and had not heard quotes back from several other local companies. FS Construction responded very quickly and offered to come out onsite wearing masks to give us a sense of our options. They provided multiple estimates for different types of wood for the deck and sent a quote over after we settled on our choice.They started the project the next day and we were able to complete the project in about 5 days. We had a severe water leak in our home — a massive, devastating disaster. The MA Restoration team came to help us right away. At first, we only hoped our home could be somewhat fixed and livable again, but they went far beyond our expectations.

We first met Brian, who worked with our insurance company and planned everything out for us. We didn’t have to do anything. During the first stage, the team dried the house, removed wet drywall, flooring, carpets, and tiles, and moved our belongings to dry areas. Books and toys were carefully packed in new boxes. At the end of each day, they cleaned up as much as possible, laid down construction paper so we could walk safely, and kept the house as livable as it could be.

In the second stage, the focus turned to rebuilding. Bill, the project manager, kept us constantly updated by text with status and next steps. Talking with him was always a pleasure—he’s not only professional but also genuinely kind. We could tell he always had one goal in mind: restoring our home to the best possible condition. Bill even took care of many extra requests outside his scope, always with a cheerful “No problem, I’ll take care of it.” We especially love the white grout he chose for our tile floor—it was a perfect choice.

Dustin managed all the woodwork, cabinets, floors, windows, and doors. He even designed our new basement kitchen, which looks wonderful. Despite the hot July/August days, he worked incredibly hard, and his craftsmanship was beautiful and precise. We love the new sill under our sliding door, the window trim he made, and the careful padding pieces he added between tile and hardwood floors.

The contractors MA Restoration brought in were reliable as well. The painters did a flawless job — our walls, doors, and window frames look perfect. The head of the painting crew even went beyond his duties by installing door stoppers and helping with our uneven wall when countertop installers ran into an issue.

It was also a joy to see James again — the very first person who came to help after the disaster. He later returned to handle plumbing, including installing the dishwasher and reconnecting all our appliances. We had been worried about the refrigerator water line, but he fixed it with ease.

It was a major project taking down walls, relocating plumbing, and designing a walk in closet. Ben and his team were incredible.
