“Master Darryl is one of the most respectable, honorable, and dedicated people I've ever met. I've been a student at this school for nearly 2 decades and Darryl has been a true mentor for me growing up. Kenpo Martial Arts Center is the best place around to learn karate for any age: from small children to adults. I cannot recommend Darryl and his school enough!“

“The most holistic place I have ever done personal training. Health focused, scientifically minded, and performance and outcomes driven. Kaylee is an incredible trainer and physical therapist, and the rest of the staff at C3 shines as well. Chi, the owner of the gym brings together many years of personal and professional experience with high level athletic training, and imbues this knowledge into his team.“

“I've been training at the dojo for almost 4 years now and I couldn't have asked for a better place to train. From the first lesson, they made me feel at home and part of the family and I began to learn the way of Karate. The level of knowledge and dedication is something I have not seen at other dojos and I feel lucky to be a part of it. Whether it's online classes or in person, there is something for everyone at all skill levels and ages. Best place I've ever trained by far, and is well worth a visit.“

“First, I really wanted to thank Master Gomes and everyone who is a part of the dojang. My son is just SO HAPPY, more confident and his hands and feet are getting stronger. I have tears in my eyes writing this because of his tremors he has been teased and bullied and also when covid started he has been harassed for being Vietnamese. I am proud to be mixed as well as both my boys but understand sometimes we get treated differently. Last Friday when he broke the board he was ecstatic! And I wanted to truly thank you all for building his confidence.“

“Lee's TKD College is the best thing that I could give to my kids. I searched high and low for a karate place and after trying this place for a week, I knew right off the bat that this was it!Master Lee and Master John not only focus on TKD syllabus but also heavily promote discipline in kids. They teach respect for teachers, parents and each other. Both my kids were able to get black belt and that could have not happened without the support and encouragement form both the masters. We feel like home at this place - always have the most friendly environment. Never have I ever seen an inch of hostility! All the kids and parents love the place and their TKD teachers and we all feel like family.Master Lee and Master John spoke to my kids outside the classes in many occasions, giving them guidance in many aspects of life.“

“I have been training at Boston Martial Arts for more than 10 years. After trying a number of different martial arts and schools, I was thrilled to find a dojo that is inclusive and diverse, offers a fun and cooperative learning environment, and teaches a really engaging and interesting art. After having had a bad experience at another dojo I realized how important it is to have a teacher that I deeply respect and whom I could see myself learning from for a very long time, and Mr. Mark Davis is that for me.I trained here throughout my grad school years and return to train whenever I can even though I no longer live in the area because the school and the art have beclme an important part of my life.Highly recommend.“

“Ben is the sensei who can connect with young and old, fit or infirm. Meets the learner at their level and raises them up. He is a Professor of the Fighting Arts.“

“So happy we found One Step Beyond! My boys (6 and 9) tried soccer, baseball, flag football, but nothing “stuck” until we discovered karate back in March 2021. Fast forward to two classes a week (soon to be 4 ?), 2 belt tests and now a competition team/weapons (all dull, nothing sharp here), my boys couldn’t be happier. Sensei Marie and Sensei Erin are wonderful with the kids and it’s a wide range of all ages and backgrounds. I can honestly say that karate has also taught my boys discipline, fitness, patience and self esteem. I highly recommend One Step Beyond!“

“I have been practicing here since I moved to Cambridge in 2015. Great place, love the community, and the exercise. I have tried out a brazilian jiu jitsu place in Worcester and a Tae Kwon Do place in Boston, Cambridge was my favorite. For the price and the people it was worth it. Note: When choosing a martial art it is very subjective based on what you want to get out of it. For me, I wanted to hone some self-defense skills, get exercise and have fun. I don't ever see myself stepping into the octagon to challenge a professional UFC fighter. These guys spend their days not only studying the mechanics but also getting that practical experience by actually fighting a bunch of random people. At CTSD, you will practice your mechanics, you will feel more confident in yourself, you will learn about visualization, technique, timing, and accuracy, but you will not step into a room and become hardened by getting the snot kicked out of you. So if you want to be a street brawler, I recommend a different approach, if you want to feel confident in your abilities, and know that you are trained enough to handle yourself in a difficult situation, then CTSD does the job. Plus its a whole lot of fun.“

“I’ve been attending classes for half a year now and this place is awesome. I’ve gotten so much stronger. Not to mention time in class takes me away from my problems and calms my anxiety. The instructors are attentive to your specific goals and will push you past what you think you are able to do. Everyone is also super nice!! Highly recommend:)“

“My children have been attending classes with Shihan/Master Instructor Eric for more than 2 years. He is able to get kids who don’t enjoy sports to participate in class, which is the test of a good instructor. Shihan Eric is very attentive, gives specific instructions, and approaches children in a calm and friendly but no non-sense manner.Students earn physical games at the end of class that focus on skills needed to progress in martial arts (agility, speed, coordination, etc).“

“i’m going to give broadway jui jitsu a 10/10. I recently became a member of this gym and let me tell you the people here are amazing. Before I knew it I had friends and training partners that I learned so much from and love terribly. Before I came to this gym I never liked working out. I love coming here and learning how to defend myself. I’ve learned so much from John, Lisa, Demetrius, Dimitri, Joe, AJ, Sensei SaPedro, Sensei Jay, Sensei Fong, Sensei Larry and of course my ukes. Do yourself a favor and join a gym you actually like by joining broadway jiu jitsu. I absolutely stumbled on a pot of gold here. I have had a blast. It’s been five months of training and I think I’ve accidentally learned how to be an assassin. It takes a lot of work to stand back up when you get knocked down a million times but I can personally say after that million and one time it gets a little easier.“

“Sensei Logan's natural leadership and teaching abilities are impressive. His level of skill, integrity, dedication, and kindness are impactful and exemplary. As parents, my husband and I appreciate that our two autistic children (currently ages 5 & 4) are valued members of the Dojo who are offered the same level of respect and dignity as any other student. A priceless fact that speaks very highly to the impressive character of Sensei Logan. We highly recommend SDSS Newton!“
