They care about their patients. They will call and check on you after your appointment if you went in for a sick visit. Call with any test results as soon as they receive them. They also have a Care Management Program where if you have a chronic condition they enroll you for monthly condition status and prescriptions calls.“

“Best of Both Worlds; Medical Knowledge and Compassion
I have not seen medicine done like this in 25 years. Sunshine Medical Center goes above and beyond medical care. They are compassionate and responsive. My really good friend was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer two months ago. Unfortunately, she is in the end part of her journey now. She had to be taken over the weekend to SMH because of an emergency. The difficulty of getting any services in a hospital over the weekend is mind-boggling. Having no luck getting the procedure that she needed, I called sunshine medical center. She is a patient of Dr. Rashmi Prakash. Being the weekend, Dr. Shanthi Prakash was on call. She not only took over getting in contact with variety of physicians at SMH to advocate for us, but she visited two days in a row, chatting with my friend to reassure her and and just show compassionate support for a half hour each time. After that, a physician from sunshine, Medical Center came every day that she was hospitalized..
I have not seen that type of care in 25 years. I can't say enough good things about all the physicians there. I would give them 10 stars if I could.“

“I had a bone marrow biopsy this morning at this facility ( Health Care Center at University Center). I warned my husband that I would be crabby and whiny this morning without breakfast OR coffee!! Plus being nervous about a ‘procedure’. The wonderful professionals here
changed all that!

The pre visit call from their nurse Jessica answered all my questions about what to expect before during and after the procedure. She spent extra time giving me a few tips on directions to their building ( not hard to find but I get lost easily). Her patience and expertise set the tone for my positive expectations! The check in was smooth, easy and quick. The nurse, Sue, guided me through the next part of getting set up in a room, getting vital signs ( blood pressure etc). She slid my IV in so smoothly it felt like less than a pinch!

I have type 1 diabetes and it felt great to see that she has a good understanding of the condition and had no problem with me keeping my cell phone with me so I could see my glucose levels. In my experience SMH has been a diabetes friendly environment! Another nurse,Barb, helped with the rest of the preparations and moved me later to the procedure area. Both were extremely thoughtful about keeping me comfortable- warm blankets, bathroom breaks, bed adjustments. My husband was able to stay with me
up until the actual procedure. The anesthesia ( sedation, some numbing med) was explained carefully and was incredibly effective. I was not uncomfortable at any time during the procedure with a very minor pinch at
the numbing injection. The staff not only returned me to where I had stashed the thermos of coffee and breakfast, but also got me more coffee later. I could see
how busy this department is, so these extra gestures are really over the top!

Discharge instructions were explained carefully and I received a clear written copy. The staff all answered my questions about post procedure care and gave a contact number for follow up. I believe Dr. Bekal did my procedure since I have his card -
my memory is a bit fuzzy today!!

Being cared for so kindly and expertly made a big difference for me! I was not crabby or whiny on spite of missing my morning coffee! All this, plus some great air fryer cooking tips!“

“When I first came to see Dr Cifra at Disc Centers of America in Sarasota Florida I could barely walk. I could only stand for a few minutes as my legs were very weak. I couldn’t drive because I was experiencing some vertigo. As a very active 71 yr old I lost a great deal of independence. My X-rays showed a very severe degenerative disc between L4 and L 5.
To make a long story short, after completing decompression therapy with Dr Cifra I can walk at least a mile, can drive again and I can stand for however long I need to. I have resumed some dancing and other activities I used to do. My hope is renewed and I’m grateful for Dr Cifra and Disc Centers of America.“

We need to add Dr. Nields to our recognition of the exemplary patient care and protocols. Dr. Nields is a compassionate bright mind whose advice we highly respect. I cannot speak highly enough of the positive effects we have gotten since beginning our journey with this horrible disease. We will always have respect and admiration for 'Grey Matters' medical practice. They have given us hope, whereas another highly respected teaching research facility we have attended are only a black negative hole in our lives. Going forward we will no longer attend the other research facility we have visited.“
