“I had an eye exam for the first time in over a decade at a local eye doctor and had fully planned to buy a pair of glasses from them as well. But the Optician was highly unpleasant and made me feel foolish for asking the questions I had.

I have been wearing readers for a number of years and had a very bad experience with Progressive lenses 15 years back so I came with a lot more questions this time.

Immediately upon trying on the Progressives back then I felt motion sickness and extreme discomfort. I just handed them back and ask for prescribed readers.

Well the staff at Grant took their time with me. It was a real team effort on their part and I didn't make it easy. It took a lot of convincing to get me to try Progressives once again.

Even after all the time we spent on lense features and frame selection it didn't go as planned when I first tried the new pair on. In fact my heart sank when I did. I had such high expectations and was so disappointed! BUT, it wasn't there fault.

After more elaborate investigation, we found out the script from the doctor was wrong!! Grrr! I had to pay for an exam with their eye doctor and she was great.

I had to wait again for the modified lenses. I'm not going to lie, it still wasn't what I hoped upon trying on the 2nd set of lenses BUT it was oodles better than the first set and my distance vision was so enhanced.

The Grant team gave me some instructions about how to concentrate on my head movements rather than eye movements along with other helpful tips. It hasn't been an easy adjustment but I'm finally starting to get the hang of wearing them.

The computer is still an issue for me and I figured out it's mostly due to my setup and not the glasses. I came to learn that my large curved computer monitor is part of the problem. On a smaller flat screen it's easier.

I have a neck impingement and neck pain that was worsened by always holding my head down and looking over the top of my readers. I wanted a pair I could wear all of the time to make my life easier from a place with a good frame selection.

I used ChatGPT to find a local place I could have confidence in. Being that they've been business 60 years now was what convinced me to visit them.

It was scary, to be completely honest, because I had never spent over $30 for a pair of glasses before. I invested in a nice frame this time that I can potentially wear for a lifetime, as long as I take good care of them. The 2 year warranty on the frames helped me make my decision.

I hadn't had an exam in a very long time (years) because life got in the way.

They offer retinal imaging and dilation. They actually allow the time for dilation to work before checking your eyes as well, unlike some other optometrists I've had in the past.

Dr. Van himself was awesome! He took the time to really check my eyes out since it had been so long since I'd been seen, got me an up to date prescription, and said to follow up with him if things weren't working well!

I understand Dr. Auchiche's decision to move to John Hopkins, but (1) will miss him and the way West Coast was run and (2) not happy with the way the change happened.
