“As a cat owner, you always think about emergency health situations and how you'd handle it, but if I'm being honest, nothing prepared me for what happened in May 2024 to my beloved cat Taz. He's always been somewhat of a trouble maker, hence the name, but this time, his antics nearly cost him his life. After a day of constant vomiting, no desire to eat, and hiding under furniture, I knew something horrible was happening. I took him to Healthy Pets Urgent Care, where they informed me that there was likely an obstruction in his bowels, and that I had to take him in for emergency surgery right away. The staff recommended VEC in Casselberry, and I cannot be grateful enough for that recommendation. Upon taking him in, we waited for x-rays to be completed, where the doctor informed us that he had an obstruction in his bowels that was pressing on his pancreas, and that he needed surgery right away. My eyes full of tears, I left my baby at the clinic with no idea of what was to happen to him. I called nearly every hour, and the kind office staff and vet technicians provided me with comfort and updates every step of the way. The staff would tell me they were giving him love and affection, and that he was trying to be carried by every tech who opened his kennel door, and I knew that he was in the best hands. Not only did they save his life, they gave him attention and love so he wouldn't feel so scared and alone. That extra step, beyond giving him life-saving surgery, is irreplaceable. The staff works tireless hours, saving lives, and they still take the time to make sure your baby feels loved in your absence. I was able to bring my Taz home the next day because of how rapidly he improved, and I give all the credit to the staff and doctors at VEC. They saved my cat's life. To me, there's never enough thanks I can give them for ensuring my sweet boy stayed with me.“

His staff is very well trained and know our pets by name. Our pets are very close to them as well. “I was in need of a surgeon to perform an FHO on my cat, so ended up here after lots of internet research. My dad is a retired vet, so I’m pretty picky about my vet care since I compare them all to him. From the moment I called this place I had a positive impression, so scheduled the surgery consult. I was pretty nervous about putting my cat through surgery, as he’s my baby, but Dr. Anne Van Lue put me at ease right away. What an amazing bed-side manner. She came across as very knowledgeable and confident, which immediately made me feel good about leaving him in her hands. And she’s clearly an incredibly kind human too. The surgery was quick and successful, and Squid is already using the leg. Incision site is beautiful. Discharge instructions were super clear. I also found the price to be very reasonable in relation to what most vets charge these days. I cannot recommend this place and Dr. Anne Van Lue enough.“

“I used Dr. Campbell when she was at another clinic in Longwood. I am so glad to hear that she has her own clinic and I will look forward to taking my furry friends to her again. I am disappointed that you are not open on Sat.or so the website says. I need to make an appointment for my senior kitty ASAP but will try again.“

“In May, my baby Althea was diagnosed with a mammary tumor and we were referred to Animal Cancer Care Clinic. Dr. Ruddle and the whole staff were great to us. Most vets we’ve been to haven’t understood or been patient with Althea’s anxiety and the team here was so incredibly kind and patient with her it made us all feel safe and cared for. Dr. Ruddle was able to operate and remove the entire tumor and then referred us to Dr. Sones for oncology.

Dr. Sones was so good to us. He answered every question I had, took the time to explain every treatment option, and talked us through this incredibly difficult time. He was a great support and incredibly knowledgeable. It’s obvious everyone here cares very deeply about their patients. He always called me back to talk about treatment options, side effects, and any questions I had. He made sure we felt supported and understood everything that was going on.

The nurses and vet techs were incredible. Althea trusted them. They took the time to make her feel comfortable and safe. They didn’t think she was mean or reactive, they understood she was just nervous and protective of her family. No vet we’ve ever been to has been as kind or patient as the team here.

Unfortunately, we lost Althea suddenly last week. The team did everything they could to prevent this and I believe they gave her an extra 8 weeks of happiness. It’s hard. Cancer sucks. I miss her so much. I’m grateful for the team here and everyone who gave Althea their all and treated her with so much love and kindness. Thank you for trying to save my best friend. She loved all her friends at Animal Cancer Care Clinic.

My only comment is that the emergency line is only 24 hours Monday-Wednesday. Althea passed late Thursday into Friday. Once she started to decline, we called the emergency service, left a voicemail explaining her symptoms and the urgency of the situation with a number to call us back, we never got a response or call back. This was really scary because there’s no after hours support for half the week. You can’t schedule an emergency like this, a call back at least would’ve been comforting.“
