“CAMA has been a powerful influence on my daughter's life. She started as a white belt at age 7 and earned her black belt at age 11 (youth rank). Now at age 15, she's in the adult classes working her way up the ranks. “Just had my first actual class yesterday. Went on Thursday last week after a terrible day and couldn’t participate so I watched. I love the family atmosphere here. Before attending my first free class, I had 13 years of built up anger, anxiety, fear, irritability, and frustration. I needed to find somewhere to release that pent up emotion and energy in a positive way because I always turned to self harm or harming myself in one way or another. 5 minutes into the class, I was able to clearly focus. Instead of my brain going a million times a minute, I was able to focus on the task at hand. I laughed for the first time in front of someone in over 13 years. It felt great. I hadn’t felt that good in so long. I of course am sore today because not only is it a work out, but they teach you discipline, that you are able to do hard things and it translates into other areas of my life. Not only was I able to feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards, but I was able to think clearly on the way home and was able to talk to my parents in a way I haven’t been able to for years. We were on a non speaking term for 2+ weeks and now it feels like I can speak to them and get my point across clearly. I now look forward to class each week and will continue to do so.“
