We are very happy with our new heat pump for heating, and look forward to having it next summer for cooling.When replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump, please be aware that costs on the Internet for heat pump equipment alone are not representative of the true cost. The actual cost will depend on your home. For example, our old asbetos-wrapped ducts needed to be replaced. Our 1920 walls had no insulation, which is needed to really improve how it feels inside, and the attic insulation was old and thin. In our home, we had to replace knob & tube wiring to allow insulation to be pumped in the walls. Some HVAC companies will give a bid to install a heat pump, perhaps with ducts, but will not assess your home's other needs. Eco Performance provided a comprehensive analysis from which we could make an informed decision.“
