“This review is long overdue! We did the 3-week day train program with Strategic K9 earlier this year, and the difference in our dog's behavior is truly night and day. From the very beginning, communication and scheduling with Michelle and the team was easy and stress-free.

Kevin did such a great job training our dog, he really tailored the program to fit her bubbly personality and brought out the best in her. Not only did he teach her, he gave us helpful tips and tricks to keep things going once she came home.

We also boarded our dog with them during our honeymoon, and it gave us such peace of mind knowing she was in great hands.

“If you want to have the most meaningful relationship with your dog, Gonzalo is the trainer for you! Working with him has been a truly life-changing process for my fiance, me and our dog, Chef.

Chef, our 3 year old lab, has had issues with leash reactivity and anxiety since he was a puppy. Before enlisting Gonzalo’s help, we had seen behaviorists, vets, and multiple dog trainers to try to understand his behavior and why we were unable to even walk around the block without an anxiety episode.

After meeting with Gonzalo, he was able to understand our situation and tailor a training program. While this did require work on our end, the instruction we received from Gonzalo was clear and provided results quickly. Between one on one sessions, Gonzalo also provided group classes, group hikes, and prompt replies to questions and videos on WhatsApp.

Gonzalo has proven to us time and time again that he has a deep understanding of dog behavior and emotions, as well as a passion to improve the bonds between dogs and their owners. Our experiences in the group classes has shown us that Gonzalo does not have a “one size fits all” approach, but rather tailors methods that work best for you and your dog with an emphasis on having clear communication. “I had started to lose faith that I’d be able to keep my German Shepherd mix, Walnut, due to her intense reactivity and territorial behavior. She was resource guarding, had poor recall, and was incredibly stubborn. I was overwhelmed and didn’t know what else to do.

Devotion to Dogs was recommended to me, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made for my girl. Walnut completed their two-week board and train program and came back a new dog, in the best way. No more lunging at strangers or other dogs. She plays nicely at the park and dog beach again, just like when she was younger before the reactivity set in. She can even relax in a coffee shop with me on a Sunday afternoon while I read, and I can trust her to stay calm and settled.

The training is just as much for the humans as it is for the dogs. I didn’t know how to set boundaries or communicate clear expectations before. The trainers worked with me 1:1 to make sure I knew exactly how to maintain everything Walnut learned once she came home.

Huge shoutout to Ben, Joshua, and Martina for their patience, consistency, and genuine care for every dog that walks through their doors. Walnut and I will be forever grateful. The weekly free socialization classes are such a gift and help us keep everything fresh.

“I got my cat neutered here about a year ago. Due to the great service of my first visit, I came back to bring my cat for a wellness exam and vaccinations. I was nervous because my cat is a sweetheart at home but doesn’t do well with other people. Even though my cat was hissing and growling they were still being so patient with him. Dr. Dworak was amazing handling my cat. She took the time to give us some advice on his diet to prevent future health problems. My husband and I were really impressed with the whole service. We were worried because we didn’t know how well they would handle my cat’s behavior. The Front desk were very nice and the assistant that helped Dr. Dworak, was so sweet. Usually many people aren’t patient with my cat and are so fast to judge due to his behavior. That’s why it made me so happy how well they treated him. I will definitely come back for any more services my cat may need. This is a place you can trust! My cat means the world to me and seeing how well they did with him warmed my heart. “Chris is awesome, tremendous patient, and caring. First thing Lacey learned after a group class was DROP. I have used this and she hits the deck. She is also trained for boundaries (not to cross thresholds w/o permission. Chris is a wonder. I live in Santee but manage a building in south county. A couple with 2 lab pit cross were having issues with their rescue pups. Viola Chris to the rescue. The pups are like night and day since first session thanks Chris for all you do. “We are multiple repeat customers. Kari has given our Newfoundland (Masha) a second home when needed, whether for a few hours or days at a time. I have confidence that Masha's care is sound and her environment is extraordinary. She has plenty of room and stimulation both inside and outside. When we arrive, Masha is excited to see Kari and eager to start play with her and her dog. Our only disappointment has been those times that Kari was full and we have had to look elsewhere.“

“The vet team was very informative with Mustard’s pre dental cleaning to the post dental cleaning. Since this was his first dental cleaning I was very nervous for him. After I picked him up from the vet he was happy to be home; he ate and relaxed in the open window, took a nap and really had no side effects to the dental cleaning. My only negative experience is the cost of the dental cleaning, which was $530. Ouch!!“
