I came to AMFM - A Mission for Michael at one of the lowest points in my life. I was struggling deeply with anxiety, depression, alcohol use, and honestly didn’t want to live anymore. Making the decision to come here was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done—but it turned out to be the best.
In just two months, my life has completely transformed. I feel capable, supported, and genuinely excited about my future again. Because of this program, I’m going back to college, getting a car, starting a new job, and rebuilding my life in ways I never thought were possible. I’ve healed important relationships, started forming meaningful new friendships, and, most importantly, I’ve learned how to take control of my own life. I don’t feel weighed down by what others think of me anymore, and that alone has made it so much easier to find happiness.
The clinical care here is exceptional. The psychiatrists truly take the time to understand you, and the GeneSight testing helped me finally find medications that actually work for my body. That alone changed everything for me.
That said, this program works if you work it. You have to want to be here. Healing doesn’t just happen in group sessions—it happens in the effort you put in every single day outside of them. You have to practice the coping skills, stay engaged, and be honest with yourself. If you do that, this place can truly change your life.
The environment and amenities also make a huge difference. I used the garage gym daily, participated in yoga, spent time in the backyard (perfect for relaxing and resetting), and loved the creative outlets like arts and crafts. The outings—shopping trips and weekend beach excursions—helped bring balance and joy into the process. It really creates a space where your only job is to get better.
What makes AMFM truly special, though, is the people.
The CCs—Taylor, Jackie, and Corrinne—are incredible. They genuinely care about you as a person, not just a client. They show up for you on both your best and worst days, and the connections I built with them felt real and meaningful.
Alexis, the case manager, changed my life. I truly don’t know where I’d be without her. She helped me handle everything I had been avoiding—doctor and dentist appointments, applying for unemployment and food stamps, job searching, even looking for a car. She goes above and beyond and treats you with so much kindness and patience. She is truly one of a kind.
Karissa, the aftercare coordinator, is equally amazing. She makes sure your next steps are set up in a way that actually fits YOU. She’s incredibly resourceful and will always find a solution, no matter how complicated things get. You can trust that she has your best interest at heart.
Monica, my individual therapist, completely changed my perspective on therapy. After difficult experiences in the past, I was hesitant—but she is everything you could hope for in a therapist. She is insightful, intelligent, deeply compassionate, and truly invested in your growth. She helped me work through years of grief, trauma, and unhealthy patterns, and has made a lasting impact on my life. I trust her guidance fully.
And I can’t leave out Chef Dom—his meals are incredible, and his group brought so much joy into our days. He really goes out of his way to make people feel comfortable and cared for.
If you’re trying to choose between programs, I cannot recommend AMFM enough—especially Peony House. The community here is something special. The girls I met here will be lifelong friends, and the support system I’ve built is something I will carry with me forever.
If you’re willing to put in the work, this place can truly give you your life back. It gave me mine.
