“This is a gym you’ll come to in order to learn self defense, and you’ll leave with both those skills and a family. I’d highly recommend for all women to come and give it a try.“

“My son has been with BDMA for a year now. He initially started when he was 5 as a shy, easy to get intimidated child. I can see his progress with his personality, although we're still working on his confidence and listening skills, we all know it doesn't change that fast with kids and all kids are different. He started with just doing their MMA classes but then all of a sudden he asked his dad that he wanted to try their jiu jitsu, and from then on, he's been doing jiu jitsu also. I like the unlimited classes of this school. All of their teachers/sensei are very good with kids and are strict (they have to be). To be honest with everyone I had my son try other martial arts school specifically the ones with Muay Thai before finding this place, and I'm glad we did.“

“Our Experience has been one of Respect and Welcoming! I wish I could give them (HoD) 10 stars.1st- In the past We tried to enroll our kid in swimming lessons, we made it clear about his special need, and ended up dropping them, because they would berate my child and made us feel unwelcome.2nd- we tired gymnastics at the YMCA , and the instructor would get flustered and would act exasperated towards our child. In my opinion she did not have the patience, character, experience and or presence of mind to engage or deal with little kids.(3 to 5 y/olds) and finally3rd- we are currently here at the House of Discipline. I can honestly say that we could not have made a better choice. We came for a trial class and immediately my son could feel the vibe and the energy. He loves it, we love it. Let me point out that we didn't even mention about his special need, but they completely embraced him for whom he is. They engage him, respect him, redirect him and guide him as needed. Let me just say that my son can be stubborn when it comes to his attention span. He tends to focus or disengage very much at a whim. he follows his own pace. There has been many moments where we keep thinking "this is it, they're gonna hate us, they're gonna be done with us, they're gonna tell us he can't come to class" but each and every one of those moments I'm proved wrong, by their generous empathic patient approach. They are teaching him to control his body and to focus his mind. I highly recommend HOD to any parent that is looking for a fun wholesome and consistent activity for their kids. Very well worth it. You'll immediately see positive changes in your mini me. Thanks to every one at HOD, especially Miss Evelyn, and Miss Star!“

“My kids have been learning jiu jitsu here for at least 4 years now. We stopped a little during Covid but the kids love it here. Professor Julio is amazing with my kids and great with adults. There is such a feeling of respect and encouragement here. My younger son is a foster child (now adopted) and Julio has been nothing but patient but firm with him. Both my sons have learned so much about discipline, respect and hard work from him and the other instructors. I myself have started going to the women's class on Saturday mornings and I can't rave enough about the instructor Ro and the environment she creates. The ladies there are open to welcome anyone and cheer everyone on. I can only go once a week but I enjoy it so much. It's just a great time rolling with some ladies who are willing to learn and have fun. Overall, highly 100% recommend this place!“

“LOVE this establishment, highly recommend!PROs: Hands down the best choice for martial arts for kids in the area. Master Kenny and his colleagues are true professionals. They have the knowledge and attitude to keep kids attention non-stop while instilling the tenants of Tang Soo Do. My kid loves going to class and it's quite a show to watch. No matter the skill level, they give every child the same amount of attention, discipline, and respect. The very flexible class schedule is also supportive of family schedules. Looking forward to staying here for years to come!CONs: Parking is tough but otherwise this place rocks!“

“San Diego Aikikai has been the institution to represent traditional Japanese style teaching of Aikido in San Diego. Aikido is a martial art and as such has a martial approach in it's philosophy, but one of the tenets is to seek ways to avoid conflict. This dojo and the instructors associated with it represent that philosophy as passed down from our principal instructors.“

“I wish that we had started our TKD journey at this school! My family of 4 had been practicing Taekwondo for several years at a different school. When COVID happened that school closed. My husband and I were both Red Belts and my ages 13 and 9 years were Green Belts and we wanted to continue practicing. We visited a few schools but they didn’t feel right. My friend encouraged me to try her school. I hesitated because I didn’t want to drive to IB to practice. We visited Pan Am Taekwondo Academy and met Grandmaster Kim, I knew immediately that we had found our new TKD home. Grandmaster Kim is so great with kids. Mine didn’t love Taekwondo before, but they do now and work hard toward their goals. It’s a great school for kids, teens, adults, or the whole family! Someone coming in at a beginner level will learn TKD the right way the 1st time.“

“I really can't explain what the San Diego Fight Club has done for my family and myself. Charlie Kohler has really provided an environment to grow mentally and physically. The coaching staff is top notch! From Brandon Magana(Old Guard) to Nick Oliver(New Guard) and everybody in between, the coaching has always been enjoyable! Five of the six members of my family has trained on that mat including multiple siblings and cousins. I recommend jiu jitsu to everybody, especially San Diego Fight Club Jiu Jitsu!“

“My two are having lots of fun. As a parent, it's great watching them mature and learn from their instructors and classmates. They don't complain when I tell them to get dressed and ready for class (and normally they complain about anything they don't want to do).I am in the adult class and it has also been a great experience physically and mentally challenging, but always with great support and patience from the instructors.Great place!!“
