Absolutely floored with disgust of this place. This place is causing me to switch away from Vanderbilt completely.

I had an endoscopy scheduled yesterday, and the doctor sends me “important links” in epic, which I had to click into to even see… aka I didn’t see them.

Then a representative calls me and didn’t even explain key issues that I had questions about. She was pretty much lollygagging. Finally, I asked her about the Driver situation, And asked if I could have the Driver show up mid procedure because that’s what I’ve done for two other procedures, including a colonoscopy in 2024 at another facility. AFTER ALL, that's a highly reasonable...read full review

After 2 years of having reached out for health care in a previous state and been misdiagnosed, ignored and shuffled, when I moved to Tennessee and saw a GP I was immediately referred to Vanderbilt Digestive Disease. Long story short, I was tested, scheduled for a colonoscopy and assigned an IBD team - a group of professionals who handled me gently and thoroughly. From a dietitian, psychologist, nurse practitioner, gastroenterologist, pharmacy supervisor, lab technician to nurses and clerical staff - I was introduced to all, spent time with each and began my treatment plan for moderate/severe Ucerative Colitis. Without going into more personal detail, I can not say enough about my care and treatment at Vanderbilt. At all times they have been supportive, interested, concerned and professional and have helped me to achieve the beginning of remission. They take time to educate me about my disease and my options and they take time to pay attention to my emotional needs too. They do understand that this is a life changing and chronic illness and they help me to get the best treatment available. They have worked well with my local general practitioner to coordinate all of my health care needs, and with my local cancer care clinic where I routine receive infusions of medication for my disease. I am pleased with Vanderbilt, my doctor, Dr. Robin Dalal, nurse practitioner Julie Wagnon and some members of their staff. I would not hesitate for one nano-second to refer Vanderbilt's Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center for any and all gut related issues.

The IBD specialist I saw from 2011-2016 made multiple serious mistakes in my care. For example, she prescribed me a Category X medication and totally overlooked that another med she prescribed me interferes with the birth control I was taking. Also, it took six months to get a diagnosis for my Crohn's relapse, because she insisted on passing me off to local doctors, who ultimately ended up referring me back to her with an order to refer me to a derm at Vanderbilt. By the time I finally got a diagnosis, I was in such intense pain that I had to go on pain management. She dropped the ball at every possible opportunity. Furthermore, she was visibly less invested in my case when I went on Medicaid. Nurses in the IBD clinic have scolded me for being a hard stick before, as well. I should note that patients with IBD are almost always dehydrated, which makes it far more difficult to get a vein. And a nurse in the IBD clinic once made me come into the office for a standard blood draw that I could have had done locally--when I lived THREE HOURS away. It makes me so sad that people talk up Vanderbilt so much when I've experienced such bad treatment with the IBD clinic.
