2616 W Girard Ave, Philadelphia“I first heard of Action Karate roughly around the end of August two years ago in 2023. Action Karate was introduced to me by my neighborly cousins. With a little thinking I said “sure I’ll do it, why not?” Without knowing that answer would change me both physically and mentally. I first walked into Action Karate for my first class at the back of the mat, stayed quiet and did what I was told. After I slowly climbed to orange belt I was promoted to black belt leadership and got my first red gee. I was really proud of my achievement.
Before I was just a lower belt, nothing special, but now I had no idea how much would be expected of me moving forward and upward. Stripe after Stripe I learned more than I thought I would. Not only did I learn self-defence but also how to focus, persevere, balance(physically and mentally), respect ,and many more.
As I climbed, the belts training got intense and for the first time I didn’t receive a stripe, I had never imagined that would happen. I barely passed my test in the end, but when promotion came around and didn’t get my new belt, I realised how serious and committed I should be. So now as a red belt nearing my test for black belt, I realised how much I’ve succeeded and how much I need to work on at the same time. So I have been working extremely hard along with my fellow classmates for the past few weeks to achieve my junior black belt.“

11 W Mt Airy Ave, Philadelphia“We enrolled our daughter at Action Karate Mt. Airy to help her have more confidence, learn self-discipline, and perseverance. It has been a little over a year now since she started and I cannot express how great of a decision we made picking this school. She has grown leaps and bounds physically, mentally and morally training with Sensei Dom and the other instructors. The staff has always been friendly and informative; showing they care and love what they do; efficiently working as a team to ensure everyone gets personal attention while achieving their goals. Honestly, if they had 10 stars, I would still want to put 11. Try this karate school and watch your child flourish!!!“

Atmosphere was great, instruction was excellent and it was hands down my favorite gym I’ve visited in travel. I’d recommend this gym to anyone and I will be returning. 10/10 .“

It has been several years since my last visit. I found the dojo refurbished with more mat space, nicely organized, and super clean. It created a wonderful setting to train. The instruction led by Jason Perna Sensei was wonderful and inspirational with lots of personalized coaching throughout the session. The setting, instruction, and students there created a serious and fun experience. I can’t wait to visit again sometime soon! Thank you!“

I can’t say enough great things about this karate institution! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a clear passion for martial arts. We also hosted a birthday party there for both of our sons, and it was such a great experience. Sensei John and Ms. Johanna handled everything from start to finish, making it completely stress-free for us. The kids had an amazing time, and the party was fun, organized, and seamless.
Highly recommend Martial Arts Hero Factory for both classes and birthday parties!“

1025 Hamilton St, Philadelphia“High recommend Broad Street Kickboxing. I was visiting for work and they welcomed me with open arms and imparted lot of knowledge the short time I was there. I travel across the country and Broad Street is a premier martial arts gym. The community is great and the instructors are top notch. Part of what sets Broad Street apart from other gyms is that many of the people you learn from are actively fighters themselves. Not only that but they care about making sure you get an engaging and instructive class while still making you feel like family. I can’t wait to go back. And good luck to everyone with fights coming up!“

625 S Chester Rd, Swarthmore“I evaluate and work with teachers for a living. While a classroom and a martial arts studio are different places, and obviously teach different content, the act of teaching and what makes an excellent teacher is universal. Master Celona is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered, inside or outside of a classroom. My two boys 12 and 10 have been attending Revolution Martial Arts for the majority of their lives. Kids go through a lot of phases, and most of the time they don’t stick with things; the number one reason they have stuck with martial arts is because of their respect and appreciation for Master Celona. He demonstrates and conveys respect and reverence for what he does while understanding that kids need to have fun too. Attending RMAI has been and will continue to be a place where my sons can strengthen mind, body, and spirit and gain real confidence and strengthen their understanding of honor and respect. Easily one of the best decisions we have ever made was enrolling them at RMAI with Master Celona.“

1760 Barbara St, Philadelphia“I started training with Philadelphia JiuJitsu this past summer and it has been a great experience so far. Damon is extremely knowledgeable with over 30 years experience and has a great passion for teaching. What is unique about Philadelphia JiuJitsu is that it is more than a jiujitsu school as it incorporates many different martial arts. There is judo, wrestling, aikido, knife and stick fighting, and practical self-defense techniques. So you can come to a class that focuses on what you are interested in. The price is fair, the instructors are knowledgeable and whole gym is welcoming so if you are looking into learning martial arts and self defense Philadelphia jiujitsu is worth a visit“

“I have 2 children training at Daniel Pope Karate and not only do they really enjoy going to class, they’re learning so much every week. It’s such a pleasure to see them expand their skills and become more and more experienced after every class. Mr Pope is a very experienced and it really shows when he trains the kids. As a parent it makes me feel great to know my kids are learning great skills that they can carry with them as they grow into adults.“
