“What can I say, I am extremely dental phobic. Just to support my comment, I was flying from Portland, OR to Orange County, CA for 5 years, 4 times a year to see my old dentist due to my fear of having to start with a new dentist (I know pretty crazy). However, it had become so expensive to fly and Uber to my dentist in Orange County, CA. I had to find a new dentist. I received a recommended to Dr. Kaveen Ranasinghe in July of this year and finally broke down to see him. He is a wonderful dentist and was very patient with my dental phobia. He spent a lot of time taking to me about my fears and how we could minimize any potential pain involved in my future dental work. Portland Dental has pain management options for even the most phobic patient like me. Also my dental hygienist (Jessica) is patient and gentle making my dental cleanings much easier to manage (she's the BEST). I would strongly recommended Dr. Kaveen (aka Dr. Ranasinghe) and his wonderful staff to all those dental phobic patients like me or anyone that just want a great dentist. Portland Dental is the best and I wanted to thank everyone for their patience and concern over my well being!“

“I like coming to CHD. The staff here are friendly and nice. The dental hygienist Guillermo is professional, friendly and a well mannered guy. I have not been to my dentist for the last two years. “It took some time to write this review as I wanted to give it the time and focus Dr. Khatib and his team deserve.

Working front to back -
Starting at reception, the feel of Portland Oral and Facial surgery is warm, concerned, caring and professional. I know the name of the receptionist (rare) and have the highest level of confidence in her. She has seen me through multiple surgeries and both acute and chronic care.

The office staff are best in industry. Responsive, professional while being friendly and (ultra) responsive. I also know her by name, and she has worked "outside the box" tirelessly for me. I have had procedures covered by standard insurance and am in the middle of a unique issue from a surgical mistake during another unrelated surgery. She navigates a world I could not with ease and speed. As I have seen it there is no procedure or problem she cannot handle effectively, efficiently, with care and detail. I have rarely (if ever) met a professional back-office staff like Portland Oral and Facial surgery.

The care/surgery team has to deal with people in acute crisis (me) and care of chronic issues (also me). We may come in scared, grumpy from pain and often in crisis. They are calming and professional while efficiently moving through minor (me) to major (again, also me) procedures. I tend to use humor into fear or pain. They are engaging and present while moving toward procedure. I am grateful beyond words for them and the team members mentioned above.

Regarding Dr. Khatib. Normally, in surveys (this is my first review), I use the words, "Highest level" or "Solid professional" however, Dr. Khatib is brilliant. Brilliant as a fact over superlative. His credentials are....well, Google him.
He is a dentist, facial surgeon, facial reconstruction specialist and more. He is ALSO an M.D. that treats sleep (installing a device for me), trauma, reconstructive surgery and chronic issues like sinus.
If I recall, he was also a professor, and I believe on the board of education at a local hospital.
Given his credentials and high (HIGH) I.Q. you would expect dry, business forward professional. While he is too focused on my health to deal with my stress induced humor, he is positive, upbeat, engaging and he takes the time to listen. His plans for my care (while awful) were well thought, well reasoned, well communicated and, given the trauma, so far perfectly executed. I have more to come unfortunately, but I expect the exact same highest-level Doctor and Dentist.

I cannot recommend Portland Oral and Facial surgery enough. If you have a chronic issue, I suggest you make an appointment. If you have a trauma, his team makes sure you are a priority. Chances are you will be referred to him, but, if not, for you, make the call. - Franklin Gilbert“

“Dentists make me nervous esp injections, I can’t handle that pain even when they topically numb you, I still feel that pinching pain. I had two cavities filled and I did not feel the injections at all! And I also had all 4 of my wisdom teeth here and it went smoothly, and both dentists were nice and explained everything thoroughly before the procedures. I brought both my toddlers in for their first visit and the staff were so nice; they explained everything and every tool to my kids and did not force anything and were very gentle with them and used play to explain what they were doing.“
