The doctors and staff explained that she should have a full life undeterred by her heart as long as I change her diet to include grains and not include many legumes (beans, peas, and lentils) as it's suspected they may interfere with the absorption of taurine. Studies have not proven this connection yet, so we cannot be certain, but apparently many other dogs they have seen have had their health improve once switching diets. Beyond that day, I want to highlight the outstanding service and dedication I received throughout the four months I brought Furball here. Dr. Freeman was always so responsive, promptly answering my many emails and concerns with patience and expertise. Her knowledge and compassion gave me the strength to navigate Furball’s final chapter, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place for him to receive care. I am forever grateful for the love and dignity they provided to Furball in his final moments and aftercare.
