“I started coming to the Yonge and St. Clair Tanning Spa a while ago and it has since become my go-to spot for tanning in the city of Toronto.It is centrally located and thus easy to get to by car or subway and truly is a hidden gem. It is clear to see that the owner, Dimitri, puts his all into the business and knows tanning and tanning beds/safety inside and out.As a tanning industry insider myself, I found myself incredibly impressed by his knowledge of the inner workings of each machine (custom built beds that he routinely takes apart and inspects) and safe tanning practices. This man lives, breathes, and adores his business and it shows.I have never burned in any of his units, and each of them provide amazing, lasting results. The cost of packages are relative to the quality of the services you get, and are well worth the money. The reason: bulbs, bulbs, bulbs. This location uses rare, high powered bulbs that actually tan the skin - not burn it - in a lesser amount of time it would take in similar beds. He keeps an arsenal in stock so he is prepared ahead of time to replace any bulbs should they go out (I've never seen a dud yet).I admit, I had to be convinced on my first visit that more minutes spent in a single session does not mean a better tan. I learned that redness from bulbs is not a tan, but a burn (with, or even without peeling) and actually disrupts the length of a tan. It makes sense - if you have to spend several days away from the salon to mend peeling or overly dry skin, you are not only damaging your skin, but allowing your tan to fade in the process.After one 10 minute session, I came out of the bed with a rich, deep tan, and I was convinced. That evening and ever since, my skin feels normal, not parched, and I am not having to over-moisturize because of dryness.As to cleanliness and general health and safety, Dimitri, who is very present, is to date the ONLY salon owner who I have witnessed who practices proper cleaning, with new towels to wipe each bed (most salons use the same towel/rag for all beds), and allows the solution to sit before wiping it down, as cleansers are intended to be used. The salon itself is spotless, including the stand up unit, which has a grille cover rather than acrylic. Grille beds are notoriously difficult to clean as the bulbs are exposed to the environment, yet the bed looks brand new. There is no awkward sliding out of the laydown beds upon finishing your tan, the power units have a built in step for a safe, comfortable, and easy exit from the bed.Another plus is ventilation. Not only are the beds custom built but in several units so are the apparatuses for proper ventilation. There are no fan blades for hair to be trapped in by accident, and one thing I noticed as well, is that the salon does not trap the scent of lotions. Although these smells can be pleasurable, it is often a sign of poor airflow, which is not a problem at this salon.Good airflow is good not only for the health of the customer but also for the health and longevity of the tanning beds themselves.What I also consider to be a major bonus is the fact that Dimitri treats every single customer - new and old - with a welcoming manner and focuses on one person at a time. Even when the place is super busy, he always greets customers, one at a time, with a smile, and a small chat while he properly cleans the bed. That is customer service!I highly recommend making The Yonge & St. Clair Tanning Spa a go-to spot for anyone looking to get the best out of their tanning experience.“

“I have been going to this tanning salon for over 12 years. It’s been so convenient since it’s literally a hop away from me ?. It has only improved year after year with wonderful and creative promotions like BOGO TUESDAYS, HANDHELD SPRAY TANS and a variety of lotion deals. Personally identity as a male, didn’t feel unwelcome or judged for booking and coming in the slightest.Booked a sugaring and given Madison as my technician. She truly is a saint!
