“AMAZING. I went to Short Hills Surgery Center for an umbilical hernia operation. This was a year after a rare catastrophic stomach event where I almost died, so going to get surgery triggered my intense memories and fears.Beyond their extremely professional medical team, their waiting area was so calm, warm, and welcoming: nothing like a hospital!The staff was so patient, kind, professional, and took their time to explain and guide me to that frightening moment I was facing - and did something genius that I will never forget.They did not make me wait, and I was truly taken in to my procedure quickly.When I was told it was time to go into the operating room, I was feeling those old trauma fears from my past severe event. My anesthesiologist heard me as I told her I was very afraid, because of my past emergency.She listened, and did something exquisite.Since this was a planned operation, and I was fine to walk, etc., I was asked by my amazing anesthesiologist, who had spent so much time with me, if it might make me feel good to walk to the room. She was 100% right.And just like that: I felt that year of fear melt away, as she held my arm, and I walked into the room.I must recommend this facility not only for their highest level of medical care but also for their spectacular attention to a patient's needs.“
