“I have been bringing my 2 French Bulldogs here since they were tiny puppies and Harlingen has been wonderful ever since the first visit. Gaston & Petra get SOOO excited to see their very first doctor, Dr. Smetts and the entire team. Dr. Oakley who is their surgeon is fantastic and was even able to treat my chicken when she hurt her foot! The entire staff here are very kind and patient and make you feel right at home. I used a different vet in the past with my cats and honestly felt like they were always trying to push prescriptions and product that I didn't feel were necessary for them, so when I adopted my puppies I did my research to make sure I took them to a vet that had a good reputation for integrity. I never feel like anyone at Harlingen would ever suggest any medicine that is not necessary which is very comforting. I highly recommend Harlingen for your furry and feathery family members.“

“Somerset Vet Dr. Oratio and tech Ashley are superb. They get down on the floor to play with my pup each visit and every question I have is answered thoughtfully and patiently. There is no “rushed” feeling – I feel like my pup and myself are really heard and cared for. Not only is the medical staff amazing, but too are the front desk personnel – Susan, Lauren and Laura. When I come for an appointment they remember that my pup can only have hypoallergenic treats and welcome her with warm voices and “happy to see you” demeanors. They too have gone the extra mile for me when Chewy messed up my monthly prescription food order. Laura patiently recalled Chewy and sat by the fax waiting for their response since she knew I was getting low on the needed dog food. The food arrived the next day! Thank you all of Somerset Vet for caring for my pup and me over all these years!“
“I cannot say enough about this staff. We went in because our dogs eyes were extremely red for a few days and we thought it was more serious than allergies. It turns out our dog had a very serious condition that required immediate emergency surgery. Our vet diagnosed the issued within minutes, thoroughly explained it to us and called hospitals herself until she got us a surgery same day (on a holiday weekend no less) and even got us a quote so that we knew what to expect financially. The advice of Dr. Abby Oratio and her technician Christine saved my dogs life, and I could not be more grateful for their rapid response to this situation.“

“A small but complete clinic, with 4 rooms and a handful of vets. I took both my cats there, one of wellness check and one for an infected paw. Both trips were efficient, which I appreciated. Cats not happy with the foreign place, but examinations and vaccines were quick. Vet was also able to give some useful advice on what to watch out for as well. For extremely irritated pets (like mine), they have face masks and towel burritos tactics to get the information needed. The prices are very reasonable, and despite being busy, they have a good system so sick patients can get seen as soon as possible. Having a mini pharmacy on site is also helpful. I have no issues about coming here regularly in the future.“
