“Jaime Romero and his very experienced crew did a fantastic job trimming four of my large Lindens and Maples, and removing a large branch from an Austrian Pine that was leaning on the utility lines.

They arrived on time with a lot of top quality tools and accessories. I was impressed at how the three of them worked so well together. All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the crew and to prevent any damage to my property. I was consulted as needed through the whole process. Jaime made sure that the trees had a good balance when they were finished being trimmed. They cleaned up everything so I had nothing to do when they finished.

The final bill was very reasonable and fair. I highly recommend them and am very happy that I chose them“

“I highly recommend Uptown Lawn Care. Lee Pears is a professional, friendly, hard and fast worker. We had our yard mowed and trimmed. Plus he picked up all the sticks and bark. He also blew away all the leaves. We had him clear brush off of our hillside as well. Both times he did an amazing job. He went above and beyond on our hillside with the brush. Our yard looks amazing now and ready for the season. The pricing is very reasonable especially for the quality of work that is done. i highly recommend Uptown Lawn Care to anyone getting up in age or that just can't physically do the work. “I recently bought a home with a very steep backyard. It was just grass (barely) and pretty much unmowable due to the extreme slope. I had always wanted a water feature and nice landscaping so I found Refuge based on a lot of research and their high ratings and reviews. The reviews were not wrong. Matt came out and met with me and we talked for quite some time. As he got to know me, what I wanted (and didn’t want) in a backyard, Matt and his designer came back with a plan that I could have never conceived of in my wildest dreams. What blew my mind was how they made the rendering come to life in the final product. They created a very large berm with evergreens to address my concern about privacy as well as a huge stream which makes use of the steep hill. They surrounded it with tons of rocks and boulders and native evergreens, trees and plants. One of my friends that came by said that it totally reminded him of a recent trip he and his girlfriend had taken to Duluth to look at the waterfalls. Everyone is in awe of the beautiful oasis that Matt and his team created. Matt and his crew have to be some of the most passionate people I have met. Every single one of the people on his team takes great pride in their work. When I came out for the final reveal, I’m not going to lie, it brought tears to my eyes. And one of the best parts was seeing the looks of pride on the faces of the crew as I oooed and ahhhhed at their work. They are true craftsmen, I was so impressed with how hard they worked and how much they cared about every little detail. As with every large project, of course there are going to be some hiccups along the way. To me, that is a given and it’s not that the hiccups occur, but more importantly, how they are handled. Matt listened to all of my concerns and addressed any issues to my satisfaction. I couldn’t be more pleased that I selected Refuge and would hire them again in a minute. “We had an amazing experience working with Biota! They are such a thoughtful and conscientious company. The work is high quality, the designs are beautiful yet pragmatic, and they are ecologically conscious. You can tell they really care about the work they put out and how it will function and wear in the real world.

Biota did some landscape work in our front yard and installed a patio and Soake pool in our backyard. It was quite the project but Elizabeth was so thorough and her designs turned out beautifully. She was incredibly involved in the whole process. She was able to inherently understand our tastes and know what we wanted. And she was frequently on site during the project and was able to troubleshoot potential issues in real time.

Tim and Elizabeth were so great in dealing with the city and securing all our necessary permits. And dealing with all the arrangements with Soake. He and Henry were great at keeping us on schedule and pivoting during the heavy rains this summer.

We are so thankful Henry was our site supervisor. He and the rest of the team were so professional and impressive. He sent an email every night summarizing the work they did that day and their plans for the next. They worked efficiently and cleaned up at the end of every day.

“We purchased our house and soon realized the hill our garage sat on was unstable. The retaining wall holding the hill was failing. We knew that garage floor needed replacing as well as the driveway. It all came to a head and we were a little overwhelmed. We had different contractors come out and bid. Custom Construction came out and explained why the garage floor and retaining wall were failing and that they were connected in a way. They presented their detailed plan for the garage floor, driveway and boulder wall. They explain why and how their plan would fix it. Sean was amazing through out the process. If I thought something didn’t look right and asked Sean or the crew took time to explain it. I could go on and on. Bottom line they did great work and were great to work with. 2 1/2 years later the all three are holding up and Sean has helped me by answering questions on how to maintain them. “Kev and his team are masterful designers and technicians. Our driveway is a work of art. The paver stones include a “welcome mat” and a design that looks “black tie” formal to match our new home. We lost our home to a fire 5 years ago and Yellow Brock Road had installed that driveway too. There was no one else we even considered when we rebuilt our home on the exact same spot. The first driveway matched our original home perfectly, as does our new driveway at Malibu 2.0. They are next to none. The onsite crews are also delightful. Respectful of our property, courteous.
