Andrew was very helpful and had 4 fine samples of excellent instruments available for me to hear. After allowing me to listen and rule out 1 of the 4 he then offered his assessment of the ease of playing and character of the remaining three.Being a musician,I appreciated his attention to detail and the ease of picking an excellent instrument for my needs.I choose this shop because of their reputation among musicians and the customer friendly policies. For example if you buy your strings from them ( all at better prices than I have seen elsewhere ) they install them for free. As a full fledged string shop they can meet my needs as my skills grow. They do not sell, they listen and advise if asked. A shop that sets a high standard for our area. I was in and out with exactly what I needed in half an hour. A very pleasant experience.“

I was hoping to get it back into decent condition for my 11-yr old to start learning how to play. He said that ideally the bridge(broken scroll) , strings(old), pegs(2 were frozen), tailpiece(fragile), and bow should be replaced, but it would be $300+ for all the repairs. But he said that since my son is a beginner, it probably wouldn't be worth the money to do yet and we could get by as is for now if my son is careful. He realigned the bridge, tuned the cello, and wouldn't accept any money for his time! I really appreciated his honesty and kindness, and I will certainly go back to him in the future when needed. Thank you, Mr. Tong!“

“I first met Steve in 1994 and he even sold me a soprano sax. I'm a lifelong sax player and own a Mark VI Alto (1973) and a Mark VI Tenor (1969). I decided to have both my VI's redone soup to nuts last year. First was the alto and then the tenor. I then took in the soprano for some adjustments, etc. As a weekly player, I cannot express in words how well all my saxes are responding. I live by the beach now and no one other than Steve or his team touch my horns ( and yes, I will make that drive to Gaithersburg). If you want your horn done right, take it to Steve and his team! Thanks, gary b.“
