“Irina Gurevich is a superb piano teacher in every way. When we started looking for a piano teacher for our three children, we knew the type of person we wanted - someone who came highly recommended who was kind, organized, and had excellent skills as a pianist. When we interviewed Irina, we immediately knew we had a good match. Irina checks all of the boxes and offers so much more. She even has perfect pitch - incredible! Irina shows her students how much she cares about them and about music at each lesson. She understands the relationship between music, school, and the rest of life. She understands that music lets children express themselves in ways they would be unable to otherwise, and how it helps with their developing brains. My kids started with Irina when they were about five years old, and I have attended almost every lesson over the past seven years or so. Irina is a consistent and professional teacher and makes progress with our kids at a pace that I didn't think was possible. She pushes the kids hard enough to challenge them, but she doesn't push them so hard that they want to give up. It's just the right amount. She knows how to easily and effectively talk to little kids as well as teenagers - and even more importantly - she knows how to listen. Our kids love her! We just finished the spring recital, and we got to enjoy a real concert - her students who are now graduating from high school are at a such a high level of technical expertise, it was jaw-dropping - I had no idea how incredible some of her students were. The performances I heard at this most recent recital were indeed a testament to her calm, encouraging, disciplined, and joyful approach to piano lessons. If I could give Irina Gurevich more than five stars, I would. Irina is a brilliant teacher and musician.“
“I made an appointment to bring my 25+ year old cello to Mr. Tong. He was waiting for me as scheduled, and I appreciated that. I was hoping to get it back into decent condition for my 11-yr old to start learning how to play. He said that ideally the bridge(broken scroll) , strings(old), pegs(2 were frozen), tailpiece(fragile), and bow should be replaced, but it would be $300+ for all the repairs. But he said that since my son is a beginner, it probably wouldn't be worth the money to do yet and we could get by as is for now if my son is careful. He realigned the bridge, tuned the cello, and wouldn't accept any money for his time! I really appreciated his honesty and kindness, and I will certainly go back to him in the future when needed.
