“Changing long term veterinary is difficult until you align when services declined to the date they were puchased. Bay Ridge is the last Annapolis vet practice which services are NOT directly tied to a paycheck, bonus incentives, and employee retention. Vet practices have been gobbled up by hedge funds which has evolved pet rescue into being rebranded as owning a luxury item. After encountering poor service for my boy Hammer, I did a deep dive into vet ownership to find the root of the problem. My heart sank from what I learned. I was prepared that my two dogs were going to be my last rescues. Then I remembered Dr Rudd from decades ago that left Annapolis. She is the most knowledgeable, ethical, and effective listener I ever had the pleasure of meeting. I looked for her and studied the corporate make up of Bay Ridge and was pleased she had returned to Annapolis. My boy Hammer suffered for months as he was processed through corporate veterinary practices that up sale over listening. If your wait time is less than 15 minutes, your Vet maybe answering to the corporate metrics of average ticket price, clients processing time, weighing legal liability over compassion, which are all tied to employee reviews/pay/retention. Bay Ridge's excellent service demostrates they still have a voice in their practice. Hammer is glad that Dr. Rudd is back at Bay Ridge she is still the same highly skilled diagnostician, ethical, compassionate, and effective listener that I met decades ago.“

“We took two year old Great Pyrenees mixes this week. The staff could not have been nicer. Intake was fast and easy. Discharge was just as quick but very informative. On the second day the doc was moving her vehicle as I was pulling in, she came to the car , opened the door, greeted the pup and thanked me for being early. Both boys are recovering well and would recommend the clinic to anyone. PS took my son's two cats there 11 years ago and was happy then too.“

“We have been taking our dogs here for about 12 years and never had a bad experience. On Martin Luther King day our 14 1/2 year old lab experienced some sort of neurological episode and we knew it was probably time to say goodbye. I called the office knowing it would be a busy day with people off from work. They offered to have us come in right before their lunch time. After spending some time petting and loving on Brownie, the vet agreed that it was probably our sweet Brownie’s time. The entire staff were so considerate and allowed us to spend as much time as we wanted saying goodbye(even though we know it was eating into their lunch time) They made us the sweetest paw and nose prints as well. Brownie also had exceptional care 5 years ago after an emergency surgery. At that time the vet called us every day from surgery to her follow up appointment to check on her. They have also provided amazing care for our other two dogs. I can’t imagine them not always offering the best care possible.“

“Edit: I had to send one of my cats to the big cat tree in the sky today and the staff were truly so helpful, compassionate, and informative. Everyone there is truly so kind and I am so grateful that my baby spent her last moments surrounded by love.

I truly have to thank this clinic and their staff from the bottom of my heart. They squeezed me in for an emergency visit day of despite being fully booked. I came in with my cat a sleep deprived crying wired mess and left feeling so much better. The prices were very affordable for a student like me and everyone was so kind. I don't care that it's a 30+ minute drive away, this is my new clinic. If I had the money to pay them full price I would because they're good people.“

“Today, we unfortunately had to put our 12-year-old boxer down. It’s an incredibly tough time, and I can’t express enough how grateful I am that this was our veterinary office.

My appointment today was at 3 p.m., and I assume from our earlier phone call they knew how emotional this would be for us. They had us come through a different entrance so that when I carried Roxi in, we were able to go straight back to a private comfort room. From the very beginning, the vet tech, doctor, and front desk staff made sure nothing came as a surprise. They walked us through everything step by step and were extremely patient, never rushing us for a moment.

One thing I appreciated more than I can say was that they handled all of the paperwork ahead of time. When everything was done, we were able to walk directly outside to our car instead of sitting in a waiting room. To be honest, we weren’t in any state to talk to anyone, and that level of thoughtfulness meant the world to us. They also made sure we knew—repeatedly—that we were in no rush and could stay with Roxi as long as we needed. No one should ever feel rushed when saying goodbye to a loved one, and they made sure we never did. I greatly appreciated the Doctor doing an exam prior, it’s comforting hearing from a professional that I was making the right decision.

We chose cremation for Roxi, and they already had that process thoughtfully set up for us as well—something I hadn’t even thought about in advance. Every detail was handled with compassion and care.

These are amazing people doing a job that families dread, and I’m so thankful we trusted them to give our Roxi peace. I plan to call tomorrow to personally thank them again for everything they did for us This memory will stick with us forever, and I’m truly grateful this’s where we went.“
