When our gas furnace wasn’t pushing out heat one cold morning, I emailed at 4am as a brand new customer with a heat emergency in mid-January on a Monday morning. “So far so good!I called about a quote and I didn't really have any additional roof space for a solar panel based water heater so they suggested I look into the SAHP product.This is basically a standard size tank water heater that uses a large evaporator panel that is mounted on the outside of your house.From what I understood of it in simple terms - It uses the ambient air very similar to mini-split technology to heat the water.This unit came with a standard solar federal rebate of 26% back on taxes based on the total cost, and a 20 year warranty on the tank.The unit has an electric backup which is really only needed during very cold winter months but nice that it's there knowing it can function as a standard water heater.I have a SPAN electric panel so I've been able to monitor usage through the summer since mid July.Here are some stats:July 13th-31st: 79 kWh (Had electric backup enabled)August: 63 kWhSeptember: 79kWhAn average electric water heater can use up to 4000 kWh per year so this is most definitely going to save me on energy consumption over the coming years.They were able to lay down some vinyl flooring under the water heater per my request and the whole install only took about 1/2 a day.Overall I'm happy with the service and it's been awesome to try out this new technology.If you are looking to save on energy costs definitely give New England Solar Hot Water a call.“
