“I'm a returning customer. Greg previously redid my basement fireplace. This time he redid my house's original 1960s slate flagstone entry walkway and brick stairway. The walkway was redone with grey beacon hill flagstone concrete pavers and a boarder of charcoal concrete pavers. He repaired the brick stairway foundation and refinished it with fieldstone veneer fronts, blue granite treads, and blue mist granite pavers on the landing. To my flower beds, he added Stanstead granite cobblestone edging and retaining wall on the side by my driveway. As a nice finishing touch, he spread loam on the soil along the length of edging and walkway where the lawn had been disrupted, to prep it for us to plant grass seed. Last, but not least, he added a granite step to my shed entrance. It looks beautiful! At every step of the process, Greg was prompt, friendly, patient and informative. He's dedicated to his trade and the job on hand and he's hard-working. As I shared in my first review, he knows his trade exceptionally well, which is reflected in his work. “Mastercraft replaced the roof on our 1873 mansard house in Cambridge. The project was extensive, covering the mansard sides, peaked top, an L-shaped flat roof over an extension, a bay window, an overhang at the front door, and the flat roof of a mudroom, plus new gutters, soffits, and window trim.

The crew, led by Alex, worked diligently for 10 full days, completing long hours and cleaning up meticulously at the end of each day. John O'Brien, the owner, was great to work with. He helped us select an asphalt shingle with a bit of color, which served as a fitting replacement for the original 152-year-old slate. The initial quote was clear and detailed, and the final price was only about 10% more due to necessary permits, dumpster overweight from the old slate, and new plywood sheathing for rotted wood.

John handled the logistics of working in Cambridge, including the necessary permits for construction and the dumpster. Both his roofing supplier and dumpster company were excellent, with drivers who skillfully navigated our narrow street without any issues. John was responsive to texts and calls, easy to work with.

We will not need a new roof anytime soon, but I would hire Mastercraft again.“

“We have an 1870's house in the historic part of Concord and all of the upstairs windows were original and needed a lot of TLC. Rather than replacing all of them (we could not use replacement windows, but would need to remove all of the window structures and do a complete replacement with wooden (2 over 2) windows to reflect what was there, we decided to look at window restorers. We found Kim Cleary last year and had his crew remove the windows, bring them back to the stop and rehab them completely in just under 6 weeks. They turned out beautiful and we are really happy with the results. We also noticed that the restored windows are so solid, that we are able to lower the temperature upstairs now, since the heat is not escaping thru them any longer. Just a great all around outcome. Highly recommended. Oh and the price was a bit more than using replacement windows, but would have been less if we completely replaced them with new custom windows.“

“There are good deals to be had but be ready for quirks. They are very understaffed and inventory changes daily. IMO this is a great option for a 2nd fridge for your garage or basement but trickier for a main fridge.
Before you go:
1. Stabilize your temporary fridge situation. If yours died, borrow a mini fridge to buy you a week. Do yourself a favor and eliminate time pressure from this process.
2. measure your space thoroughly and look at the Lowe’s website for models that would fit and you’d be willing to buy. Maybe look at them at Lowe’s if you’re picky. The outlet ones won’t be fully assembled w drawers etc and staff won’t have lots of context. Know what Lowe’s is charging and what would be a good deal in your eyes.
3. Be prepared to go a few times and see what’s available. Some are dented or scratched but some are pristine and just didn’t fit in the buyer’s space. Staff can tell you when they’re getting a new delivery in.
4. Be prepared for curveballs. The first one I bought turned out not to work. Also the delivery crews are hit or miss in terms of customer service. Scrub your old fridge to pristine condition or they can reschedule if they deem it not clean enough.
5. Have a Plan B fridge you’d buy from a reliable seller in case you don’t find anything that works in a reasonable timeframe.
6. Delivery will give you a 4 hour window and only 10-40 mins lead time for when they are coming. If you miss them it’s a reschedule. Choose Saturday delivery if that will mess with your daily schedule.“
