Never in a million years did I think our water softener would be the thing to wreck our basement — but that’s exactly what happened. A valve cracked while we were out for the evening, and by the time we got home, there was water everywhere. We’re talking soaked carpet, walls, furniture, and years’ worth of storage boxes floating in water. Total chaos.

At first, I honestly didn’t know what to do. It was late, I was tired, and standing ankle-deep in water wondering where to even start. I tried a few places, and most didn’t answer. Then I called ServiceMaster by 247 — and thank God I did.

They picked up right away. The person on the phone was calm and reassuring, which was exactly what I needed in that moment. She walked me through a couple of things I could do while I waited for help. Within 45 minutes, a crew showed up — fully equipped and ready to get to work.

These guys were amazing. Seriously. They didn’t treat me like just another job. They explained what had happened (way better than the plumber I called), helped me shut everything off properly, and got to work pulling out the water and setting up industrial fans and dehumidifiers. They were careful with our stuff, respectful of our space, and just genuinely nice guys who cared about doing the job right.

They also helped document everything for the insurance claim — photos, moisture readings, a full report — stuff I never would’ve thought to collect in the middle of a panic.

What really blew me away, though, was how personal they made it feel. One of the guys helped me move a few old photo albums I thought were ruined — he actually sat them out with a fan so they wouldn’t stick together. It was a small thing, but it meant a lot.

In just a few days, they had everything dried, cleaned, and back to normal. No musty smell, no damage left behind. Just a clean, safe basement again.
