But what sets companies apart from everyone else is what they do with more difficult problems. A large number of small pool lights were installed at our house 5 years ago; they were found to be weaker than they should be and were broken quickly at there stems. “The main thing was upgrading from the old 100 amp panel to 200 amp because we kept tripping breakers whenever the AC and the dryer ran at the same time, which in summer was basically every day. They swapped out the entire panel, meter base, and the weatherhead connection to the utility. All the old cloth wiring on the first floor got replaced with romex at the same time, which I was nervous about because I thought they'd have to open up a ton of drywall but they fished most of it through from the basement and attic and only cut maybe four small access holes total. The new panel is mounted in the same spot but it's a full size 40 space box so there's room to add circuits later. Every circuit is labeled with actual descriptions not just numbers, and they put in AFCI breakers on all the bedroom circuits which I guess is code now. One detail I appreciated was they moved the two outdoor receptacles on the back patio to GFCI outlets and put in weatherproof in-use covers since the old flip covers were cracked. The inspector signed off on everything first visit which apparently doesn't always happen with panel swaps.“
