“Dr. Kevin Drygas and the team at Capital Veterinary Specialists were an absolute godsend for our family and our husky, King.
We traveled all the way from South Florida to Tallahassee after King was diagnosed with a tumor involving his ankle. From the moment we arrived, we felt like King was in incredibly capable hands.
Dr. Drygas took the time to examine King, perform advanced imaging, and really understand what was happening before determining what could safely be done. During surgery, he was able to remove approximately 95% of the gross disease while preserving the important structures King needs to continue using his leg. He also removed the sentinel lymph node for testing so that we could get as much information as possible about what we are dealing with.
What impressed me most was that he never made us feel like King was just another case or that there was only one predetermined path forward. He explained that the pathology and imaging results would guide the next decision and was willing to consider what treatment would actually make the most sense for King rather than forcing one particular option.
The level of care, compassion, skill, and communication we experienced at Capital was exceptional. Even after a major procedure, King was already getting himself up and walking, which was incredible to see.
When your dog is family, putting their life in someone else's hands is terrifying. I am extremely grateful that we found Dr. Drygas.
We drove roughly eight hours to get King to Capital Veterinary Specialists, and I would make that drive again without hesitation (and will be)
