“20 plus years ago, in the heart of a community that was supposed to be built on trust and faith, a tragedy unfolded that would forever alter the course of a family's life. A family, new to the country and grappling with a language and culture not yet their own, sought the care of someone they believed could be trusted with their most precious gift--their newborn child. This caregiver, a member of their church community, ran a daycare out of her home. It was a place where many in the community left their children, believing them to be safe and nurtured. Tragically, one day, the unimaginable happened. The youngest member of the family, left in this caregiver's supervision, died. The cause of death was heartbreakingly simple yet devastating--a fatal accident during sleep that could have been prevented with the right precautions and knowledge. And so, the matter was silenced, the caregiver's position within the community not just preserved but, in time, elevated. This story is not just a recounting of a personal tragedy; it is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that exist within communities, of the responsibilities we owe to each other, and of the consequences when those responsibilities are forsaken. It is a call to action for all--to ensure the safety and well-being of every child, to listen to and support those who have suffered loss and injustice, and to hold accountable those who fail in their duties of care and trust. This serves as both a testament and a catharsis. It is a narrative that many may never hear, but one that needs to be told. “I used Urgent Care at their dowtown location on a Sunday. First, I went early in the morning and saw a long line of people waiting. On the phone I was told 10-15 min, but when I arrived I waited 30 minutes, then was told another 30-45. I went home, watched the wait times on their website during the day and decided I'd go shortly before they closed, which was the perfect time, especially since my problem wasn't severe. They are ALWAYS cheerful and so very nice. The nurse and doctor were both efficient and each explained every step in detail so there were no surprises. If you need care, this is the place to go. Free parking in addition!“
