“John is a highly experienced and professional plumber. I noticed that in the last few months my house water pressure would go up when not in use. I contacted a plumber and he said that the water pressure regulator needs to be replaced since it's 12+ years old. I had him replace it, yet the problem persisted. Water pressure would go up 120+ psi in matter of minutes at random times. I thought the regulator that was installed was bad, so I had the interior components replaced again. Same issue persisted. Got a second plumber's opinion and he said you have a bad installation of the regulator (soldering was done poorly), so it needs to be replaced and installed properly. At that point, I knew it's highly unlikely that it is the regulator. I called John at Pieper Plumbing and he arrived within minutes. He correctly diagnosed the problem instantly! I needed an expansion tank! Oceanside city has been doing some work on the water supply lines across the whole city and they must have changed my water plumbing to a closed system (without any notice of course), so I needed an expansion tank with these changes. As the water heater turns on, the water in the cold line heats up and expands. When it has nowhere to go, the pressure goes through the roof (potentially damaging the water heater, appliances, faucets, etc.). An expansion tank solves that problem.I would highly recommend Pieper Plumbing. He knows what he is doing!“
